Snood is a universal and very comfortable type of scarf and. The accessory is relevant at any time of the year, thanks to its simple but very popular shape, in the form of a closed ring.

Snood unisex

When the question arises which snood is better, knitted or crochet, the answer is ambiguous and here's why. The product, made with knitting needles, has a “loose” structure, soft and elastic, which cannot be said about a crocheted item. Snood can be crocheted more openly and interestingly than with knitting needles, while the structure remains quite dense, which makes it warm in the cold season.

Dad, mom, me - a beautiful family

Snood scarf, worn by everyone from young to old. Depending on what material the snood is made of, it is used to decorate outerwear all year round. In winter, the accessory is knitted to be voluminous, warm and cozy, from wool, down and wool blend threads. During the demi-season period, the accessory is knitted from lightweight yarn and cashmere. The summer version of the scarf is used more to decorate the image.

It should be noted that this fashion accessory is quite easy to knit, so nothing can stop even the most novice craftswoman from being on trend.

The snood in the picture is tied loin knitting, in two turns. The scarf has dimensions: height – 30 cm, length when folded – 66 cm (132). Knitting is done in the round, without lifting loops and connecting posts.

In order not to miss the size when crocheting a simple snood, which often happens during knitting, if the initial number of loops was cast incorrectly, you need to knit a sample.

For sample:

Cast on 10 chain stitches and knit 5 rows. Count how many loops there are in 1 cm and calculate the total number of loops for casting on the chain. For example, there are 2 loops in 1 cm, the length of the finished product is 132 cm. Multiply the length by the number of loops (132x2 = 264), the result obtained is the required number of loops for knitting a chain.

Required materials:

  • Wool blend yarn (100g/240m) – 300g;
  • Hook - No. 4, No. 4.5.

Start of knitting:

Dial large size hook 216 air loops (VP). Use the connecting post (CC) to form a ring so that it is even and not twisted.

We continue to work according to the scheme:

Description of the scheme:

1 r: in the 7th VP from the hook, knit a Dc, * VP, Dc* - continue *...* until the last loop in the row, Dc in the 5th VP start knitting.

2 r: *VP, СС1Н* - until the end of the circle.

In this way, knit the product to the required height, alternating between VP and CC1H. For larger cells, you need to increase the number of VPs and knit a stitch not with one, but with two crochets. For example, 2VP, СС2Н.

Finish the product with a connecting post, cut the thread, tuck the tip into the product.

Bulk snood crocheted from thick yarn: diagram, description

Snood with star pattern

A voluminous scarf-collar knitted with a star pattern is designed for the cold season of the year. It is knitted from thick yarn, which gives it the appropriate look and makes it warm and cozy.

Since the scarf is long and voluminous, it will require 1 skein of yarn to make.

The hook is selected according to the thickness of the yarn. The thicker the hook you choose, the more voluminous it will be. finished product.

Scheme of “Lush Columns”

Work progress:

1 p: form an air loop (VP) from the yarn, dial on 1 more VP and stretch it 1 cm, more is possible, depending on the size of the stars. We knit 3 more double crochets (dc) without closing the loops (there are 7 loops on the hook), yarn over, holding the working thread with your finger, grab it and carefully pull it through all the loops on the working tool. Use a single crochet to form the top of a fluffy column. Then insert the hook into the resulting loop and knit a single crochet (SC), thus creating one fluffy stitch.

Continue knitting in the same loop at the base of the fluffy column, VP, 3Dc. And knit a lush column similar to the first one.

We complete the beginning of the row by knitting part of the star. When knitting the last lush column, do not close the top loops, but continue knitting further.

2 p: there are 7 loops on the hook, yarn over and insert the hook into the VP of the base of the first row, pull out the working thread, cast on 5 more loops on the hook, a total of 14, without closing the loops, yarn over and insert the hook into the next VP of the previous column and pull out the thread, Cast on 5 more loops for a total of 21 loops on the hook. Now you need to complete the set of loops on the hook in one go. Yarn over, grab the working thread, and pull it through all the loops on the hook, using a connecting stitch to complete this action.

We continue to knit the star with a set of lush stitches (knitting details for beginners in the video tutorial below).

Finish knitting the product when it reaches the desired height. Place the edges of the accessory to create an endless scarf.

Some clarifications:

How to knit:

We collect a chain of 205 VP (air loop).

1 r: starting from the second loop from the hook, knit all the VPs with half double crochets (PSTSN), you get an elastic starting row, VP, turn.

2 r: in the base loop of the RLS (single crochet), and until the end of the row in each loop of the previous row, knit RLS, VP, turn.

3 r: RLS in each loop, VP, turn.

4 r: RLS in the first loop before. row, *skip 1 loop, then knit a fluffy stitch, VP*, repeat from* to* - 101 times, finish row RLS, VP, turn.

From 5 to 7 rows: RLS in each loop of the base of the previous row (204 loops in the work).

8 r: RLS in the first loop before. row, *skip 1 loop, then knit a fluffy stitch, VP*, repeat from* to* - 101 times, finish row RLS, VP, turn.

Row 26: RLS.

We tie the short part of the scarf with an RLS from one edge to the other, 26 loops in total.

In principle, the accessory is ready, all that remains is to decorate it with fringe and sew on buttons.

For fringe:

Cut 160 strips from the remaining yarn, each length = 23 cm, make tassels through every 4 loops on a product of three threads. To do this, you need to fold them in half and hook the resulting arc through the loop on the edge of the product, then insert the edges of the threads into the loop and tighten. The brush is ready. Brushes can be made different lengths and colors.

After the fringe is ready, sew on the buttons. Place one edge of the accessory over the other so that the finished end is on top and fasten the buttons on the scarf at the same distance.

Knitting pattern for a bright snood:

Snood, having become a real hit of the last autumn-winter season, continues its triumphant march in the new one. And this article will tell you how to crochet it, patterns and step by step instructions They will help even beginners understand this simple process.

A snood is both a scarf and a hood at the same time, one of the leading fashion trends. And many have already appreciated its benefits. Firstly, it is very convenient, which is due to its design: it is knitted with a fabric that closes into a ring, without beginning and end. Therefore, it fits like a ring around the neck, does not come undone and does not move even in the strongest wind, and looks neat and stylish.

A sufficiently wide snood can also replace a hood, which, you see, can often help out if the wind suddenly starts to blow.

Crochet snood scarf: patterns

For experienced knitters, we suggest crocheting snoods with the diagrams and descriptions posted below.

Master class

An autumn openwork crocheted snood will decorate the feminine look of any fashionista.

Materials needed for knitting:

  • Yarn: any melange yarn, which will match the size of the hook. In the master class we used Angora Batik yarn (50% to 50% acrylic and mohair) of red-brown color.
  • Hook 4 mm.

We will knit a snood following the pattern below.

When choosing the width of the future scarf, we take into account that the number of air loops cast on at the beginning should be a multiple of 14 plus 1 loop. For example, to knit the snood in the photo, 14x6+1 air loops were cast on, that is, 85 pieces in total.

1. We knit four air loops. Three of them will serve for lifting, and the fourth, as can be seen in the diagram, is a separator for the next double crochet. In the fifth loop we knit a double crochet.

Then you need to make 3 air loops and, stepping back the same amount from the edge, 3 single crochets.

We knit 2 chain stitches, skip another one on the chain and again make 3 single crochets.

We knit three chain loops, and in the fourth of the chain (we skip three) we knit a double crochet, then two more chain loops and another double crochet in the same place where we knitted the previous one.

Thus we continue knitting until the end of the row. As a result, a total of 14 loops of the original chain are knitted.

2. To lift, we cast on 3 loops, and into the hole that was formed by double crochets in the previous row, we knit 3 double crochets. We continue the row with three air loops, 4 single crochets and again 3 air loops.

Again, in the hole formed by knitting the previous row, we knit 4 double crochets. Then we make 3 air loops and 4 more single crochets.

Continue knitting the row until the end.

3. We start the row again with three lifting air loops. Next, we knit 4 double crochets into the hole that was formed by the stitches of the previous row. Then again 3 air loops, a pair of single crochets.

After this, we again need to knit three loops and eight double crochets.

We tie the row to the end.

4. Three chain lifting loops, 8 double crochets. We make another air loop and 16 double crochets where there were 8 double crochets in the previous row.

We finish the series.

5. We knit in the same way as the first row, but we make a shift by knitting 1 loop at the beginning of the row for lifting.

According to this pattern and description, we knit a scarf to the desired length. If the yarn you are using for knitting is quite light, you can make the scarf longer and twist it in a figure eight shape.

Now the ends of the snood need to be connected. This can be done with a regular sewing needle or crocheted.

The crocheted snood scarf is ready. Happy creativity and wearing.

As you can see, knitting such a charming scarf pattern is not very difficult. Once you have mastered this pattern, you can move on to more complex ones. You can knit a snood scarf for yourself or as a gift to your friends, and there are also male models of this item.

The simplest crochet snood: a detailed master class

For several years now, women of all ages, from girls to grandmothers, have been wearing knitted snoods with pleasure. Beautiful scarf, intricately closed in a ring, covers the neck from the wind, and as it gets colder, it can serve as an excellent hat instead. Even a novice craftswoman can build such a product. To do this, it is enough to have a hook or knitting needles, a little free time and this master class. Well, and yarn, of course. We'll talk about it further.

Which yarn to choose?

If you want to wrap yourself up warmer, then feel free to buy woolen threads or those with a high percentage of wool. Wool with the addition of acrylic will shrink less, and if it contains cashmere, the scarf will be soft and delicate.

For autumn-spring weather, you can take acrylic with cotton (such as “Jeans” threads). Silky bamboo yarn is very pleasant to the skin, which can be bought today in many handicraft stores. It is completely natural, which is especially valuable for allergy sufferers. And if you want to make your snood elegant , then you can purchase threads with lurex or silk additives.

Preparing tools and materials

While winter is far away, I will take for an endless scarf (that’s what snoods are often called) a yarn containing half cotton and acrylic (the same “Jeans” threads). One ball contains 50 grams. We only need two skeins. The threads are elastic, well twisted, and easy to knit. However, you choose according to your taste.

The hook number is 4. With this ratio, the finished product is quite dense, but at the same time soft. And it’s pleasant to wear, and the wind won’t blow. If you want to make the snood looser, then the hook number can be increased. Take “Five”, for example. Or "six". Usually, every needlewoman has hooks of various sizes and types in her arsenal. And if something is missing, you can always order it from the online store. And at the same time, look at accessories for knitting.

Knitting

We get comfortable and knit a chain of air loops. So that it turns out to be equal to the circumference of the head, and there are still five centimeters left for reserve. I got 129 loops. By the way, do not forget that there should only be an odd number of them - otherwise the pattern will not turn out as desired. We tied the chain - we close it into a long ring.

Now we knit circular rows. This is convenient - you don’t have to bother with stitching later. But to make it neat and beautiful, we won’t knit in a spiral. Each row should go one way or the other. So the seam will practically not be visible - it will hide. And the relief will be more interesting and clearer.

The knitting pattern is a simple one-on-one straight mesh. That is, in the first row we knit like this: one loop for lifting, another air loop, on the base chain we skip the first loop, and in the second we knit a single crochet. Next, chain stitch again, skip the base loop, single crochet. And so on until the end, until we reach the point where we started. We finish with a column and close the ring.

We knit the second row in the opposite direction, starting with a lifting loop. Next, we knit the first single crochet over the last chain stitch of the previous row, chain stitch, again a single crochet over the chain loop of the first row. And so on until the end of the row, finishing with a stitch above the very first loop and closing the ring. The next rows are similar to the first and second.

We knit until the required height is reached. All that remains is to cut the thread and hide it. You can show off your new clothes as soon as the weather permits. The entire process of making the snood took me just one evening. And then with the deduction of time for cooking dinner and washing dishes. Good luck to you too!
