The first autumn month of 2018 promises a real feast for fans of various genres. There are an incredible number of games coming out (and I don’t even want to talk about additions) and in order not to get bogged down in listing more or less promising projects, I focus readers’ attention on the most interesting, from my point of view.

In addition to the projects listed in the selection, time-tested sports simulators, such as NBA 2K19 (7.09), NHL 19 (14.09) and FIFA 19 (25.09) will receive an annual re-release - there is no point in praising them in detail (“those who hip will understand”), but it would be wrong to forget.

Game release calendar on PC and consoles: September 2018

compiled in accordance with the personal gaming preferences of the author of the publication

The most anticipated game of the month (IMHO): Dragon Quest XI

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (PS4, PC): September 4

The next part of the cult series of games in the JRPG genre opens the September selection. The ratings are already known - the average score on Metacritic was 88% and, in fact, the only question is which one is worth purchasing for your personal game library.

Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4): September 7

My “spidey sense” for good games rarely lets me down, and I don’t think I’ll be wrong this time either—it’s highly likely that one of the “one bottles” awaits us. The reputation of the Insomniac Games studio, untarnished by hackwork, and the large funds invested by Sony in support set the mood exclusively for a positive mood.

Yo-kai Watch Blasters (3DS): September 7

The spinoff of the main Yo-kai Watch series from Level-5 will traditionally be released in more than one version, this time there are two of them: Red Cat Corps and White Dog Squad. For those who are not familiar with the series, a little educational opportunity... this is a series of games, like Pokemon with its own indescribable flavor.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country (Switch): September 14

It's rare that I include add-ons for already released games, but I'll make an exception. When the presentation of The Golden Country took place... for several minutes I was absolutely sure that this was the announcement of a full-fledged new part of Xenoblade - that’s the impression I got.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider (PS4, Xbox One, PC): September 14

The developers are positioning the next part of Tomb Raider as the final part of the trilogy about the formation of Lara Croft, which somehow implies that the project will contain all the best developments recent years. Playing the latest parts and watching gameplay videos... I readily believe that they will succeed.

The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep (PS4, Xbox One, PC): September 18

Incredible but true! The release of the new part of The Bard’s Tale, number 4, will take place as much as 30 years after the release of the third... therefore, it makes no sense to talk about “what and how it happened”, but the fact that inXile Entertainment has become skilled in the reincarnations of cult games is an indisputable fact.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 (PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC): September 25

The fourth part of “The Valkyrie Chronicles” can be awarded in advance one of the prizes at the end of the year in the “visual component” category, but I disagree with those who consider the games of the series to be “icons” of tactical games... good, original - yes, but nothing more.

Life is Strange 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC): September 27

In my opinion, too much attention is paid to the social component, but that is the opinion of an introvert. However, the first part of the adventure game received flattering reviews and fans have the right to expect no less from the sequel.

The traditional post-New Year lull in the gaming market ends at the end of January, which means we still have a little time to play everything purchased at numerous Christmas sales. We hope our material on this topic helped you during your shopping. Well, while there are still a few weeks left until the first important releases of 2018, let's see what the coming year has in store for us. It looks like it will be quite intense. Please note that the games in the list are sorted by release date.

We've been waiting for the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, however, considering that the game has been in development for 6 years, this is not such a big delay. The project of the Czech Warhorse Studios is most likely not even an RPG, but a complex life simulator in the Middle Ages, where any advancement of your character along the social ladder will have to be paid for with tears, sweat and blood. The lands of the Bohemian crown on the eve of the Hussite Wars are a very uncomfortable place to live, and the player will have to experience this the hard way.

It all starts with an escape from prison, and in general the project is reminiscent of classic American road/buddy movies.

Although Studio Ghibli was not involved in the work on the new game, some of its employees, such as composer Jo Hisaishi and character designer Yoshiuki Momose, also worked on Ni no Kuni II. The events of the game take place hundreds of years after the first part. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is the first project from Level-5 studio that will be released on PC.

Far Cry 5

Genre: action/adventure

After traveling through prehistoric times, the Far Cry series returns to the present. No more exoticism, now the action of the game is transferred to American soil, to the state of Montana, where, as it turns out, no less terrible atrocities can happen than in exotic, or. The main opponents are now the Christian religious sect, which has already caused criticism from clerics against the developers. Players will once again find a variety of weapons and equipment, enemies and allies, hunting wild animals, taking fortified checkpoints and, of course, conquering signature towers. There will even be ship boarding battles!

God of War

Genre: action/adventure
Release date: Q1 2018

Formally, God of War is the eighth part of the action/adventure series of the same name. At the same time, it is a direct sequel, released in 2010, and a soft reboot of the entire franchise, transferring it from the Greek setting to the world of Scandinavian mythology. Considering the real contacts between these two civilizations, there is nothing illogical here. Kratos now sports a bushy hipster beard and cares for his young son, Atreus. The game features RPG and survival elements, including crafting, but most importantly, Kratos has lost his legendary double blades and now wields magic axes. Atreus will act as an NPC assistant most of the time, but at some points players will be able to control the boy.

Detroit: Become Human

Genre: action/adventure

Platforms: PlayStation 4

Detroit: Become Human, the fifth game from Quantic Dream and cult game designer David Cage (Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, Fahrenheit, Omikron: The Nomad Soul), poses very important questions to players that may soon become theoretical to actual. What is life and mind? Can machines have compassion? Have people learned to understand and accept others? Detroit: Become Human began in 2012 as Kara's tech demo and will be the studio's most ambitious project yet. Several hundred actors were involved in the motion capture process alone, and it took David Cage about two years to write the script. Detroit: Become Human is one of those games worth buying a PlayStation 4 for.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

The Bard's Tale IV

Genre: role-playing game
Release date: 2018
Platforms: Windows, masOS, Linux

The Bard's Tale series of role-playing games has obvious problems with numbering. After the classic The Bard's Tale I, II and III, there was an unnumbered sequel, The Bard's Tale (2004), later ported to iOS, Android and even The BlackBerry PlayBook. And now it’s time to continue numbering, inXile Entertainment has taken on The Bard’s Tale IV. As with the studio’s previous projects, funds for development were collected through crowdfunding, although there has been little news about the game since 2015. But inXile managed to release a very good RPG during this time and even try their hand at VR with The Mage’s Tale, a spin-off to The Bard’s Tale IV. We hope that now the team will return to the adventures of the bard, which we appreciate not so much for the RPG component as for the great humor and songs.

The Last of Us Part II

Genre: action/adventure
Release date: 2018
Platforms: PlayStation 4

And although we have no confidence that The Last of Us Part II will appear in 2018, we could not miss this project - this is one of those games that is worth buying a PlayStation 4 for, or at least borrowing from a friend. The first part is one of the most poignant projects in the history of the gaming industry, with excellent acting and an amazing plot. In the sequel we will see Ellie and Joel again, voiced by the same Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker. And this time we will have to play as a grown girl. After the release of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, all the efforts of the Naughty Dog studio were thrown into the development of The Last of Us Part II. Given Naughty Dog's traditional release schedule, we'd still bet on summer 2019, although we'll still hope to see the game later this year.

Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia

Genre: strategy/tactics

Ten playable factions are promised, including the Anglo-Saxons, Celts, Scots, Welsh and, of course, Scandinavian pirates.

Tropico 6

Genre: economic simulator
Release date: 2018
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

The new part of Tropico's economic strategy is being developed not by Haemimont Games, responsible for the excellent , and , but by the German studio Limbic Entertainment, which released the highly controversial , and . But we still remain cautiously optimistic, because instead of one island we are offered to manage an entire archipelago. The transport system will be completely redesigned, presidential speeches and the ability to change the design of your palace will return. In addition, the new game will feature agents who can be sent to other countries to steal landmarks and monuments. Sounds fun.

Traditional cartoon cel-shaded graphics are included. Among the platforms on which the game will be released is Nintendo Switch, but, unfortunately, there is no PC.

There will probably be many more interesting game projects released in 2018 that are not included in this list, but perhaps it’s time to stop. And we remind you that you still have 2-3 weeks to play everything you bought during the Christmas sales.

In this article you will learn:

Autumn has arrived and this is a reason to take a closer look at the new games that are about to appear. September will be rich in interesting toys that will not let you get bored on rainy, cold days.

The developers promise more than 50 cars, with different types of races and tracks in different parts of the world.

Immortal: Unchained

7.09 a game is released on PC that is very similar to Dark Souls, however, instead of swords, the role of weapons in it is played by various guns. The plot tells about a war who, after many years of imprisonment, is freed. To save the worlds from destruction, he embarks on the warpath.

Spider-Man

On September 7, perhaps the most anticipated game of the end of 2018 will appear, which is destined to become the best game about Marvel superheroes. In the world of Spider-Man you will find an open world, web-slinging and great action. The appearance of such villains as Rhino, Shocker, Kingpin and others is expected.

There were already a lot of rumors around the game, it was shown many times at exhibitions and was given to journalists to play.

NBA 2K19

Traditionally, sports games are released at the end of the year. On September 11, the best basketball simulator, which is already 12 years old, is expected to be released.

Unlike the previous game in the series, the new one has an improved design, changed team compositions, venues, modes, added new features, in general, everything has been done so that the player plunges headlong into the world of virtual sports.

On September 14, the final part of the trilogy about the development of Lara Croft as the Tomb Raider will be released. It is intended to close the story of the heroine’s confrontation with the Trinity organization.

The game looks the same as the previous parts, despite the fact that the developer has changed. However, we are promised a darker story and will show all of Lara’s “demons”. At the very beginning, she will become guilty of the apocalypse that has begun, which she will have to stop.

NHL 19

Another sports simulator will be released on September 14. This simulator has no competitors, being the coolest hockey game. In the new NHL, the developers have improved the control and movement of players on the ice, and also added a bunch of options for creating your own hockey player.

The Bard's Tale 4: Barrows Deep

On September 18, the 4th part of the cult game The Bard’s Tale will appear. The game looks very rich and detailed, and even somewhat reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. However, don't rush, this is not Skyrim. The game genre is dungeon crawler, your heroes will roam the world destroying monsters, completing tasks and leveling up. The video will help you understand what kind of game this is.

Insurgency: Sandstorm

Dedicated to shooter fans. On September 18, a game will be released that is as close as possible to the real world. The developers relied on this. Your team, like you, will have to make its way very slowly and carefully, since Insurgency kills instantly.

Valkyria Chronicles 4

On September 25, Valkyria Chronicles 4 will reach Russia. The story of the 4th part will unfold simultaneously with the events of the first (if anyone played) during the Second European War. The new hero will be Cloud Wallace and his team.

Life is Strange 2

On September 27, the first episode of a new game (with an old meaning) from Dontnod will appear. This time the heroes will be brothers Sean and Daniel. Compared to the first game, we are promised improved graphics, plot presentation, more dialogue and choice, which was and is the main feature of the game.

FIFA 19

You will be able to play the new football simulator on September 28th. The game has improved deception movements, it will be possible to throw the ball to hit and much more. Every year, EA attracts more and more players to its game, adding various features to it, such as a plot. This year is no exception.

With the release of the Batman Arkham trilogy, the myth that it was impossible to create a great superhero game was mercilessly refuted. But this is rather an exception to the rule. Another exception could be Spider-Man 2018, the last major exclusive for the PlayStation 4 this year. So what are Sony going to surprise with in their new game? It’s worth starting with at least a visual. Animations, cutscenes, detailed and photorealistic New York down to the smallest detail - the game looks like a large-scale and expensive blockbuster from Marvel.

From the gameplay side, the Spider-Man game will be faithful to all the newfangled trends in the gaming industry. There is an initially open city, which is proposed to be explored with the help of acrobatic pirouettes on Spider-Man's web. There is a role-playing system, towers in the style of Ubisoft games, an outfit of motley bosses and a lot of secondary tasks - a gentleman’s set for every self-respecting AAA project.

Dakar 18

For real car maniacs who don't miss the broadcast of the world's largest rally marathon, the Dakar Rally, there is extremely positive news. Deep Silver's new racing game, Dakar 18, will allow you to make your dream come true and take part in the world famous rally competition. The developers focus on two things: realism and scale. Realism lies in the believable simulation of sand, mud and vehicle control physics.

Scale is not an empty word for developers from Bigmoon Entertainment, as Dakar 18 promises an open world with an area of 15,000 square kilometers. Impressive, isn't it? But the size of the world does not mean that the game will be interesting to play. It is worth remembering at least the FUEL race in 2009, which was in many ways similar to Dakar 18 and was subsequently crushed by critics precisely because of the exorbitant scale of the world, which turned out to be as big as it was boring.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

The legendary tomb raider will return in the near future and will most likely share the title with Spider-Man best game September 2018. There is no reason to doubt this, since the last two parts of the reboot about Lara Croft were, although not ideal, good games. The only thing that was confusing was the departure from the canons of the series and the emphasis on shootouts rather than on exploring the world. Well, and the plot from Rihanna Pratchett, who only the lazy would not once again kick for the secondary and illogical actions of Lara Croft.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider will try to correct all the shortcomings of its predecessors. Before the game’s release, it’s difficult to understand how things are going with the plot, but in terms of gameplay, according to journalists, personal experience Those who have become familiar with the gameplay of Shadow of the Tomb Raider are already much better. and the gameplay is focused on exploring the world, solving simple puzzles and finding ancient treasures. At the same time, the number of clashes with people has decreased; thanks to the increased aggressiveness of the AI, they have ceased to be whipping boys.

Pathfinder Kingmaker

Fans of leisurely, role-playing adventures will also have something to play in September 2018. We advise you to pay close attention to the isometric RPG Pathfinder Kingmaker, which follows all the canons of cult role-playing games and is based on the rules of the D&D board game version 3.5. According to the plot of the game, gamers will have to create their own state in a fantasy world, develop cities, appoint ministers and independently resolve local and global conflicts. A kind of mix of role-playing game and global strategy.

The game will offer a standard set for canonical RPGs: an extensive leveling system, several dozen classes and, of course, numerous hours of dialogue and a non-linear plot. If at this point fans of role-playing games have not yet activated the immediate reflex to buy the game, then what about the participation of Chris Avelon, who is responsible for the script for Pathfinder Kingmaker, in the project? We can expect that the new project from Owlcat Games will be able to compete with for the place of the best isometric RPG of 2018.

Life is Strange 2

The parade of the main games of September 2018 continues with Life is Strange 2, a sequel to perhaps the best game by developers from Dontnod. The original 2015 LiS was a unique project that was able to attract audiences of all ages to the game, which dealt with the somewhat hackneyed theme of teenagers with paranormal abilities. The secret turned out to be simple: excellent visuals, an intimate atmosphere of an American suburb and, surprisingly, a fairly original plot with a bunch of moral dilemmas, sprinkled with nonlinearity.

Another significant game of September will be the continuation of the legendary Bard’s Tale series. But the choice of genre for The Bard’s Tale 4 Barrows Deep raises a few questions. Instead of providing players with an isometric RPG, like in 2004's The Bard's Tale, the developers decided to try their hand at the dungeon crawl genre. For uninitiated players, the gameplay of The Bard's Tale 4 may look a little strange.

We travel through dungeons from a first-person perspective, solving puzzles, moving objects and opening treasure chests. The battles take place in a first-person perspective and are most similar to the 3D version of the Hearthstone card game. We are only afraid that the unusual gameplay concept will scare away a new audience that is not familiar with the series from the game. And all fans of the series need not worry: The Bard’s Tale 4 Barrows Deep will retain the magical lute, plenty of humor in the plot and other features of the franchise.

FIFA 19

Of course, in light of the recently held world football championship in Russia, it is impossible not to recall the next part of the main football simulator of the gaming industry - FIFA 19. Electronic Arts continues to improve their brainchild and offer several important changes in the gameplay. For example, the Active Touch system will be introduced, affecting how quickly the player receives the ball. Now the reaction speed of each individual football player will vary depending on his skill in real life.

A dynamic tactics system has also been introduced, which allows you to change the tactical behavior of football players at any time during the match. The story mode will return to FIFA 19, which will tell the story of three heroes, among whom there was a place for a girl named Kim Hunter. The only drawback of FIFA 2019, although only for Russian players, will be the exclusion of the RFPL from the game.
