Water is holy. The Slavs made sacrifices to lakes and rivers, wells and swamps; they believed that the Goddess of Water, Dana, lived there as the embodiment of the female principle of life.

Water had magical power. It is there, in the waters of rivers, lakes and seas, that the invisible spirits of water hide from human eyes - mermen and mermaids.

Word " mermaid"is associated with the riverbed, because for river mermaids they were the most important of all mermaids. Ukrainians called mermaids mavkas, nyavki. It is known that the old Ukrainian word "nav" means "dead man", "dead man". According to legends, mermaids are the souls of drowned people, t .e. dead in the water.

Similar to water princesses, mermaids have long green hair, like tangled seaweed, green or blue eyes, slim figure. Having all the charms of a beautiful girl, mermaids cannot live on earth because they have no legs. A strong fish tail helps the beauties move quickly under water.

The goddess Dana gave her mermaid daughters a magical voice that lured travelers or even ships to a dangerous whirlpool to drown.

Christopher Columbus claimed to have seen mermaids off the coast more than once during his voyage.

The famous navigator Henry Hudson, sailing off the coast of Newfoundland in 1610, wrote in his diary that he saw a mermaid overboard. She had white skin and long dark hair. As she was about to set sail, the sailors saw a spotted tail that looked like a fish.

In 1403, as the chronicles of the Dutch city of Eden testify, a dam broke through a storm, and fishermen caught a mermaid, who lived for 15 years in a monastery in the city of Harlem, doing weaving. Probably, the legend about her inspired Andersen to write the famous fairy tale about the Little Mermaid Ariel.

In 1548, Duke Philip brought the little mermaid to an exhibition in Genoa. As the chronicles testify, the whole city came to see the miracle, especially since the creature swam in front of the audience for 2 hours. The further fate of the amazing mermaid remained unknown.

In 1672, in a strait near Labrador, fishermen caught with a net a fish-man with pale gray skin and long blond hair. Thick beard did not give the opportunity to properly examine the creature. The mermaid (or newt?) tore the net and disappeared into the depths.

But the story that received the most publicity was about a mermaid caught in 1717 near the island of Borneo. She is described as a fish with the face and breasts of a woman the size of a calf. The sailors put this creature in a barrel of salt water and tried to feed it fish, but it refused to eat and died a few days later.

The existence of the mermaid was confirmed by 30 crew members. Soon, several mermaids were seen in the same place, restlessly looking for something.

But especially often, sailors met sea maidens in the tropical and equatorial latitudes of the World Ocean.

A funny incident occurred off the coast of the African Congo River, where sailors saw women standing in the water with babies in their arms. When the frightened men rushed to save the victims, the women fled, showing fish tails instead of legs.

In the Middle Ages, the legend of the sea bishop was especially popular among the people.

The scientist R. Fournier wrote in 1646 that in the Baltic Sea, near the Polish coast, in 1433, fishermen caught with a net a sea man resembling a bishop with a miter on his head. The arms resembled fin-like wings, and the legs were replaced by a tail. The creature did not speak, although it understood everything that was said. The king let go sentient being back to the sea.

According to legend, mermaids are dangerous creatures. They own the underground world, take care of fish and algae, but love to lure random travelers to them. At sea, their victims are ships, which gullible sailors direct towards the magical singing of the sea maiden.

In the Kharkov region, all mermaids are called scrappers for their ability to tickle a person to death.

But no matter where they live - in the sea or river - a huge number of facts about human encounters with water creatures indicate that modern science is not yet ready to answer, to explain who else inhabits the water world, where mermaids come from and where they disappear.

Most of the peoples inhabiting our planet have their own myths, legends and just for children fairy tales, which describe water entities, endowed with reason, and even magic. Not surprising, since more than 70% of the earth's surface is covered with water. Mermaids, undines And water attention is paid to in books, songs, films and cartoons. And, of course, in games, including dress up MirchChar, whose wardrobe is filled with things that turn charmers into inhabitants of rivers and seas.

Different nationalities give different names to these mythical underwater inhabitants, but most often they are presented as beautiful girls With fish tails. In some countries, they are considered to be peace-loving and can even marry an ordinary human man. But in the mythology of other nations, they are dangerous and strive to drown people. There are also references not to beautiful maidens, but to terrible creatures with fangs and claws.

Of course, they are best suited for water images aquariums, but with the help of water essences and fins, anyone can be made inhabitants of rivers, seas and oceans. Here, for example, shuffle And purring players Barlog and Lenka

Fits well into the underwater world and illusaurs, although they are associated not so much with mermaids as with sea monsters - for example, with the same Nessie, which made the Scottish lake famous Loch Ness. As an illustration, I’ll give you images of the Astaroth player’s enchantments – it’s a wonderful pair of underwater dragons.

And now I want to illustrate the most famous fairy tale about underwater creatures “The Little Mermaid" using images created in the dress-up game Mirchar. Although I don’t like the sad ending of Andersen’s original fairy tale, in which the prince marries someone else and the Little Mermaid dies, so it would be better to have a more life-affirming version from the Disney studio about Ariel.

For the role of the Little Mermaid herself, we will take two beautiful girls: Aquarius and Murmyav (owners of Veks and Ligeia). Although, unlike Ariel from the cartoon, they are not red-haired, but this is even more realistic - I very much doubt that the daughter of the king of the ocean could be a red-haired and freckled girl.

What would the father of our mermaid Triton look like? I think the aquarius players Nesty and SOPIK fit into this role quite organically.
