Work on weekends and non-working holidays

By general rule work on weekends and non-working holidays is prohibited (Article 113 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation). However, there are exceptions to this rule.

Thus, you can invite an employee to work on a weekend/non-working holiday if there is a need to perform unforeseen work, on the urgent completion of which the further normal functioning of the organization depends. In this case, the employee can be involved only with his written consent.

By the way, there are situations when hiring an employee on weekends/non-working holidays is possible without obtaining consent from him. For example, such situations include the involvement of an employee to prevent a catastrophe/industrial accident or eliminate the consequences of a catastrophe/industrial accident/natural disaster (Article 113 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).

How are you paid for working on weekends and non-working holidays?

Work on weekends, as well as non-working holidays, is subject to payment at least double (Article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).

Specific amounts of remuneration for work on weekends/non-working holidays can be specified in the collective agreement, LNA, or employment contract.

Replacement of double payment for vacation

An employee who worked on a day off/non-working holiday may be given another day of rest. But this must be the will of the employee himself, and not the initiative of the employer.

In this case, work on a day off/non-working holiday is paid in a single amount, and the day of rest chosen by the employee is not paid (

On November 4, Russia celebrates National Unity Day. In this regard, in November 2017, Russians will have a three-day holiday. There is only one official holiday - November 4th. But in 2017, this day falls on a Saturday, therefore, according to current legislation, the day off is moved to Monday, November 6.

More details:
November 4(Saturday) – day off
November 5(Sunday) – day off
November 6(Monday) – holiday day off (postponed from November 4)

November holidays 2017 – calendar

The holiday itself - National Unity Day - often causes misunderstanding. Some people shrug their shoulders in bewilderment and confuse this day with Russian Independence Day, others recognize only November 7 and consider November 4 a kind of “transfer” memorable date, and for some, November 4 is the day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The majority are simply happy to have an extra day off in a series of tired autumn everyday life.
Therefore, it would probably be useful to recall that National Unity Day is a memory of the events of bygone days, namely the liberation of Moscow from Polish invaders by the people’s militia, led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky. This was in 1612. This date is a turning point in the history of Russia; it marks the end of the Time of Troubles.

The first sculptural composition in Moscow, the first monument dedicated to national heroes is the monument to Minin and Pozharsky in Moscow. It was built not with state money, but with donations collected throughout Russia by the initiators - the Free Society of Lovers of Literature, Science and the Arts. And this was also the first time. The collected donations were enough not only to create the famous sculptural composition, which, by the way, was cast in bronze in St. Petersburg and sent to Moscow by water through Nizhny Novgorod, but also for the obelisk in Nizhny Novgorod, where, in fact, the second militia was born.

With the arrival of November, many Russians begin to prepare for New Year's celebrations. Despite the fact that holiday dates will not come soon, it is important to plan important and responsible matters. A great help in planning upcoming events is the production calendar for November 2019. Such a production schedule must take into account both the norms of work shifts and the total number of days off.

Working production calendar for November

The obligations of the relevant services of any enterprise or organization include the preparation of a work calendar. The schedule for production workers should be drawn up on whole year forward, and for each month of the corresponding year. Like the working calendar for November, any other production schedule must contain in its data labor standards, as well as official rest.

If government regulations approve additional rest time (in connection with state holiday calendar data), then such data must be entered into the production calendar. November includes one officially approved state event, which is celebrated by Russians on the 4th and is called the Day of National Unity. In connection with this holiday celebration, all working Russians are given an additional day off. What does the exact 2019 production calendar for November look like?

The final autumn calendar month begins on Wednesday. In total, this period of the year includes 30 calendar numbers. Among the indicated number of November dates, exactly 20 numbers are allocated by the production calendar for the duration of workdays, and all the remaining 10 dates are periods of official rest.

It should be clarified that another official date is added to the total number of holiday periods in November - the 4th - National Unity Day. According to calendar data, the holiday event will happen on Monday; accordingly, according to the official laws of the Russian government, pre-holiday dates and weekend dates will be transferred. This date falls on Monday, which means it will be a day off, which will continue the statutory holidays of Saturday and Sunday. The government of the country gives Russians 3 days to celebrate National Unity Day, starting on Friday and ending on Monday..

If you download the production calendar for November, you will be able to accurately determine the standard working hours:

  • 40 hours a week – 160 hours a month;
  • 36 hours a week – 144, 2 hours a month;
  • 24 hours a week – 96 hours a month.

It is important to determine that labor time standards are calculated for workers who work the day shift. If the enterprise operates around the clock, then its employees are assigned a shift schedule. Such labor time standards are calculated on an individual basis, but in the end, the total time spent on performing work duties should not exceed the number of labor hours approved by Russian legislation.

The daily work schedule of workers should not deviate from the norms of labor law. If the rights of employees are violated, then responsibility for this rests with the employer. An employer has no right to “force” employees to work beyond the time allowed by regulations. Such cases are possible if the employee gives written consent to “part-time work,” that is, to increase the work hours per week/month.

Discusses the working production calendar for November 2019 and the specifics of performing work duties. If an employee has production “benefits”, then he has the right to work part-time or a reduced workday. As a rule, this situation applies to parents who have dependent young children, as well as to people with limited physical abilities. This category of workers has the right to work on a reduced or part-time basis only if they provide the employer with official confirmation of the available “benefits” (medical certificate).
