Additional material for the lesson FROM THE HISTORY OF THE BOOKMARK* The need for a certain device necessary to mark the necessary pages in a book was identified in ancient times. Without bookmarks, working with huge volumes of sheets was very difficult. Leaving a book open with its pages facing down could damage its binding and pages.

The history of bookmarks is closely related to the development of books. Although the earliest date for the appearance of bookmarks is not known, it is clear that even in ancient times - when papyrus scrolls were the basis for manuscripts - bookmarks were already used to mark places that had been read. After all, the scrolls sometimes reached more than 40 m in length. Some of the oldest bookmarks were stick-on bookmarks made from parchment. Between the 13th and 15th centuries, bookmarks made by monks appeared. They were found in early printed books. The monks made them from parchment or leather, using the leftover material from the book cover. These bookmarks came in a variety of shapes—a simple strip, a sticky triangle, or more complex ones—with a rotating dial that indicated a column on the page. This bookmark was attached to a thread along which it could be moved up and down to mark a precise level on the page. A rotating disk was placed on the bookmark, which indicated the column (the text was placed in columns, they were usually numbered from 1 to 4). Bookmark with rotating disk

Lesson 10. Working with paper. Application works.

Product: “Paper bookmark.”

Assignments and materials in workbook: “Paper bookmark” (p. 15) and appendix.

Lesson objectives: repeat the material from the previous lesson (use of paper, properties, making symmetrical shapes, rules for working with templates); show the possibilities of using a bookmark; develop the ability to complete symmetrical figures; learn to solve problems of a search nature (searching for the center of a figure); learn to argue your opinion; learn to create a symmetrical composition from geometric shapes; improve the ability to work according to plan; introduce the algorithm for making a product: marking, cutting, assembly, finishing; teach how to control each stage of practical work, show the possibilities of making corrections to the work; cultivate accuracy and work culture; consolidate and improve techniques for working with glue; development of spatial thinking, learning to carry out quality control of manufactured products according to the sample.

Planned results:

Subject: know some information about paper (properties, uses), what the bookmark is used for; use material sparingly; connect parts using glue.

Personal: formation positive attitude to work.

Regulatory: carry out an action according to a pattern (make a symmetrical pattern from geometric shapes); carrying out work based on the slides and text plans presented in the textbook; see errors and deviations from a given goal, make corrections; understanding the algorithm for creating a symmetrical paper appliqué.

Cognitive: understand the importance of following the rules for working with templates, namely arrangement in order to save material; plan practical activities; observe the specified rules for working with glue in practice; creating ways to solve search problems.

Communicative: justify your own opinion.

Basic terms and concepts: pattern, symmetry.

Resources and equipment.

From the teacher: textbook, workbook, template layout options for testing students’ knowledge, sample bookmarks, game “Complete a symmetrical figure”, finished product.

For students: textbook, workbook, cardboard, colored paper (it is advisable to prepare the paper by the teacher), pencil, scissors, glue, tools for working with glue.

Lesson progress:

Introductory part(5 min.).

Teacher: “Today in class we continue to work with paper, tell us what new things did you learn about this material in the last lesson? (when repeating this topic, the teacher demonstrates the cluster compiled in the last lesson) What shapes did we learn to make? What does “symmetry” mean? What symmetrical figures can you name?

The teacher can offer students the game “Complete a symmetrical figure” using half of it. Here the teacher, at his choice, can offer individual work, then it is necessary to prepare drawings for the students, preferably on a piece of paper in a box or this work propose to do it on the board, inviting several students to complete the task.

How did we mark out the details? Using what device? Did you manage to make your own template at home? How to work with them correctly?

The teacher has suggested on the board various options layout of the templates, students must choose the correct solution. Options for errors may be the following: a) placement in the center; b) placement is correct, based on saving paper, but the template is located on the colored side; c) the template is not located tangent to one of the format lines.

Teacher: “How did we connect the parts in the product? What rules for working with glue did you use? Let's consolidate these rules by opening the textbook on page 38. Let's read together the rules for working with glue. So, what equipment do we need to work with glue? (backing sheet, cloth, maybe a lapping sheet, brush). The brush needs special care. It can be of different widths; small parts are smeared with a narrow brush, and a wider brush is used for larger workpieces. Do not allow the glue to dry on the brush; after finishing work, it must be washed immediately.

There is even a poem dedicated to Glue.

Save yourself quickly -

The glue has escaped from the kitchen!

He doesn't feel sorry for anyone:

Everyone you don't meet

Glued together a hanger and a hat,

I glued the lamp and the coat together,

He glued dad to the chair -

You can't peel it off, no way!

The lights in the city are going out -

They also stuck together...

And my eyes began to stick together,

So that everyone can sleep quickly.

J. Brzechwa

Discussion of the poem. How did everyone react to the event described in the poem? What is this event? What ended up happening? What rule of working with glue can be formulated? (Students answer the question: the glue must be buried, it must be found in a strictly designated place).

Product analysis. Working with a plan.(5-7 min.)

Teacher: “Today in class we will make a bookmark with you. Tell me, what is the bookmark for? (students express their guesses). Bookmark - a ribbon or strip placed in a book to mark the desired page. The bookmark can be bought in a store, or it can be made with your own hands. It can be made of paper, thread, fabric, metal (demonstration of bookmarks).

The product is suggested on page 38. Tell me, how long will it take us to make the “Paper Bookmark” product, how difficult will it be to make this product? (students look at the icons proposed by the authors and answer the teacher’s question).

Let's look at our product (the teacher also demonstrates the product), and answer the young technologist's questions. Students analyze the proposed product and answer the teacher’s questions, the expected answers are offered in brackets.

1. What will I do? (We will bookmark it). What makes it special? (It is symmetrical from geometric shapes: squares, triangles).

2. What materials and tools will I need for the job? (Cardboard, colored paper, scissors, marking pencil, glue and tools for working with glue).

3. How will I do the work? In what ways? (Cut out the parts from paper and glue them with glue).

4. What will I do first, what will I do next? We will draw up a short work plan ourselves, taking into account the fact that we need to prepare templates (1. organizing the workplace, 2. preparing templates: cutting out from a workbook, 3. marking templates on the material, 4. cutting, cutting parts, 5. assembly) .

5. Why will I make this product? The product can be used for its intended purpose, placed in a book or textbook.

Manufacturing of the product. (20-25 min.)

Teacher: “Let’s get started.” practical work, based on the detailed plan in the textbook on page 38 and on the slides on page 39. We will exercise control over each stage of practical work, relying on the slides of the textbook.” The teacher demonstrates each stage of the work.

1. Organize your workplace.

Let's check on slide No. 1 whether we have prepared all the materials and tools.

2. Using template 1 from the workbook, cut out a piece from colored cardboard, and using template 2, cut out three pieces in two colors from colored paper.

You should get 2 templates, one in the form of a rectangle, the other in the form of a square.

What needs to be done here? Cut out templates from the Paper Bookmark application. Template No. 1 is a strip, a rectangle, we apply it to the corner of the cardboard on the wrong side and trace it with a pencil, template No. 2 we trace on colored paper (only on the wrong side), we use two colors, that is, trace the template twice on the same paper and 1 once on another (here it is easier to do this as follows: the student traces template No. 2 three times on the same colored paper, after the parts are cut out, students sitting at the same desk can exchange the cut out parts with each other: two parts for one) .

3. Cut template 2 according to the markings.

We cut along the outlined lines, look at slide No. 3, we should get three triangles: 1 large and two small.

4. Using the resulting templates, cut out the parts from colored paper.

Again we mark the templates on colored paper on the wrong side, circle the large triangle 2 times and 4 times should be small ones, remember that we are marking on the wrong side, saving paper. After all the parts are cut out with scissors, before that you need to repeat the rules for working with scissors.

Look at slide No. 4, in the end we got the following details: 2 large triangles, 4 small ones made of colored paper and 1 more rectangle made of cardboard,

5. Start gluing the composition from the center of part 1, find the center of the part using template 1.

6, 7, 8. Glue the parts so that you get a symmetrical product.

Before you start gluing the parts, lay out a symmetrical composition on cardboard, starting from the center.

Try to answer the question: how do we find the center of the figure? Students answer this question, and the teacher opens options in the table. In this case, the teacher can demonstrate the proposed options clearly. If some options are not named, the teacher voices the options himself. After naming the options, it is proposed to choose the one that can be used in practical work, while all the “pros” and “cons” of the options are discussed, they are noted in the “Notes” column. “Try to prove that the chosen option is more suitable than others for completing the task.”

How to find the center of a figure?

Notes

Bend the figure twice

But we remember the detail, and the product will turn out sloppy.

Mark by ruler

We don't know how to use a ruler

Place a template on top (the center of the figure is marked on the template) and pierce it in the center with an awl

We don't know how to use an awl

Cut out ¼ of template No. 1, attach to the part and mark the center with a pencil.

The best option, we know how to cut and use a pencil when marking.

Now you can arrange the details, but you must remember that symmetry should be not only in shape, but also in color.

Here you can demonstrate to students options for a bookmark with correct symmetry and with an error, while students choose the correct option. Also pay attention to the options suggested in the workbook on page 15.

After the parts are laid out, you can start gluing. What rules for working with glue must be followed?

Let's summarize.(3-5 min.)

An exhibition of works is being held. Students summarize their work. They demonstrate their products and tell them what happened in their work, what should they learn? Was it difficult to complete the work? Does the complexity of this work correspond to that stated by the authors? How do you evaluate your product, is it made carefully, or does it need some finishing touches?

The teacher also analyzes the products, also paying attention to the neatness of the cut out shapes, the accuracy and correct arrangement of the parts.
