Cap and four-piece Panama hat
Wedge width = Head circumference: 4 + 1 cm

Constructing a wedge pattern:

wedge pattern

CAP

For a cap, you need to cut out a visor, the width of which is equal to the width
wedge The insert for the visor can be cut out of a plastic bottle.

Sew the wedges in pairs, make a semicircular shape on one of the wedges
hole, which is processed by turning, after inserting
decorative elastic (strings, plastic fastener).
Sew the visor to the opposite wedge.
Finish the bottom with a facing. Place a raised stitch along the bottom.

If the top fabric is light, then you can similarly cut out the lining from
calico, fold the top (with the visor) and the lining facing inward and stitch,
leaving a hole for turning.

BANDANA

Cut 3-4 cm from the bottom of the wedge pattern.

Sew the wedges in pairs, make a semicircular cutout on one of the wedges, which is processed by turning.
Cut out a hem 6-8 cm wide and a length equal to the circumference of your head.
allowance for a loose fit (4 cm) plus two lengths of ties (15-20
cm).

Fold the facing in half lengthwise, facing inward. Sew to the length of the ties
decorating them at the ends with a bevel. Turn the facing out and work the bottom with it,
aligning the ends of the semi-circular neckline and the beginning of the ties.

PANAMA

If the width of the margins is 3-4 cm, they will be sloping; with a larger width, the margins will bend upward.

Add the width of the field to the height of the wedge.
With this radius, draw a semicircle from the highest point of the wedge. This will be the line of the bottom cut of the fields.
Cut the field pattern as a separate piece.

Cut out the fields in the amount of 4 parts with a fold (2 upper and 2 lower).

Having sewn the side seams, the fields are folded facing inwards. To the top
fields, put a pad of calico. Grind all three parts along the outer
contour. Turn the margins inside out, straighten the seam and baste it. By fields
lay several parallel lines with an interval of 0.5 cm.

Fold the panama, brim and facing facing inwards, with the edges facing outwards and stitch.
Turn the Panama hat inside out and iron the facing inside out. At the bottom of the facing
lay a seam, simultaneously grabbing the sections of the wedges and the brim of the Panama hat.

cap and six-piece Panama hat
Wedge width = Head circumference: 6 + 0.7 cm
Wedge height = Head circumference: 4 + 2 cm
Constructing a wedge pattern:

CAP

It is sewn similarly to a cap from four wedges. The insert for the visor is better
use the finished one and use it to make a visor pattern.

You can determine the width of the visor using the formula: “divide the head circumference by 4 + 1 cm.”
A semicircular cutout for the fastener must be made at the junction of two wedges opposite from the visor.

PANAMA

From the highest point of the wedge with a radius equal to the height of the wedge, draw
semicircle until it intersects with the sides of the wedge. It will be
the bottom line and the line of the internal cut of the fields.

Add the width of the field to the height of the wedge. Draw this radius
semicircle from the highest point of the wedge. This will be the bottom cut line
fields.

Cut the field pattern as a separate piece. This will be the third part for constructing the main field pattern.
Cut out the fields in the amount of 4 parts (2 upper and 2 lower).
It is sewn similarly to a Panama hat from four wedges.

PANAMA FLOWER
Panama flower pattern

To create a pattern of petals, it is necessary to determine the central
wedge point along the bottom line. From this point with a radius of "half the width
wedge + 1 cm” draw a semicircle. This will be the bottom cut of the petal.

From the top point of the wedge with the radius of the wedge height, draw a semicircle to
intersections with the side cuts of the wedge. This will be the bottom cut of the wedge.
Continue the line further until it intersects - this will be an internal cut
petal

Cut the petal pattern as a separate piece. Cut out the petals into
quantity of 12 parts (6 upper and 6 lower). Upper details of petals
glue with interlining.

Fold the upper and lower parts of the petals facing inward and stitch along
bottom cut. Turn the petal out, straighten the seam and stitch it.

Fold the petals opposite each wedge so that the edge of one touches the edge of the other and stitch.
Treat the bottom of the Panama hat with facing or lining.

BANDANA WITH METAL BLOCKS

Pattern width = Head circumference + 20 cm
Height = Head circumference

General diagram of the model:

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

The blocks are placed in pairs at equal distances around the circumference, radius
which is equal to half the circumference of the head with an allowance for a loose fit
2 cm.

A cord is threaded through the blocks and its ends are secured with clips.

If you have children in your family, then you know how in the summer you need a hat or cap to protect the child’s head from sun rays. Try sewing a children's hat like this with your own hands. Such a children's hat is quite suitable not only for a girl, but also for a boy. This model of Panama hat can even be sewn for your daughter’s doll.

This free master class provides a pattern for three sizes of a children's hat and full description DIY sewing techniques for children's hats.

Video on how to sew an original women's (or girl's) summer double-sided Panama hat.

How to make a pattern for a children's Panama hat

The pattern of this model of Panama hat is simple, and the hat itself will be sewn from just two identical parts. So that you can immediately start sewing a Panama hat, I am enclosing a completely free pattern for this Panama hat. The pattern is without allowances, do not forget to add them while cutting.

In order for you to have a pattern for this panama hat, you will need a printer and tape.
If you have both, then select each pattern image and save them to your computer's "Desktop" or in a special folder. Then open each image in any graphics editor, such as Paint, and print them at full size (100%).

Sizes: B - (solid line) pattern for a child 12-24 months. K - (dashed line) pattern for a child 2-4 years old, C - from 4 to 6 years old

Pay attention to the points 20cm (15cm) and 23cm. These are control values necessary for checking the pattern after printing on the printer. If, after printing the pattern, the bottom horizontal of the left part is equal to 20 cm (the right - 15 cm), and the vertical (the line connecting both parts of the pattern) is equal to 23 cm, then the dimensions of the pattern are correct. If these data are slightly different, then you will need to adjust the printer's printing parameters or expand the pattern in any way you know, for example, cutting it (in glued form) vertically and horizontally and moving the parts apart a little.

Both parts of the pattern are glued together with tape, then outlined on the fabric and this part is turned along the fold line. Add allowances (1cm) along the contour and cut out.

To avoid damaging the paper, print this test square first. If its sides are 13 cm, then you can print the details of the Panama hat pattern.

Technology of sewing children's summer panama hat

It’s not at all difficult to sew this panama hat with your own hands; just cut out two identical parts of the hat from the same material or combine them as in my master class.
Then pin them together, or baste them, placing both pieces right sides together.

Stitch these parts to sewing machine along the winding contour of the panama hat, with an allowance of 1 cm, as shown in the photo.
Be sure to leave a small area unsewn, within 5-7 cm.

To make the Panama hat look neat when finished, be sure to notch the areas concave inward, as shown in this photo. Score carefully so as not to cut the seam thread.

Convex areas, on the contrary, need to be cut off. In this case, these curved areas will be laid out well.

How to properly unscrew a Panama hat

Now you will need to find the hole left unstitched and turn the Panama hat onto your face through it.

Turn inside out carefully so as not to tear the connecting seam.

This is how the Panama hat turned out, outwardly somewhat similar to a stingray.

Finishing stitch along the edge of the hat

To ensure that the seam is laid out neatly and evenly, be sure to secure it with oblique stitches after turning the hat inside out, as shown in the photo.

Iron along the contour of the Panama hat, making sure that the seam runs exactly along the edge.

The hole through which you turned the hat inside out also needs to be ironed, with the same allowance.

You will have to sew up the hole manually, using neat, invisible stitches.

After this, all you have to do is make one or two finishing lines along the outline of the Panama hat.

Place the finishing stitch along the edge of the panama hat on the wrong side, retreating 2 mm from the edge. If you are only going to do one line, you can back off a little more.

The edge of the Panama hat, processed with two finishing lines I think it will be more beautiful.

How to make button loops on a Panama hat

The Panama hat pattern has a buttonhole marking for each of the three hat sizes. Transfer this marking to the Panama hat, mark the length of the loop and sew the loop on a sewing machine.

Now, using a seam ripper, you need to cut the loops, making sure not to damage the loop threads.

How to adjust the size of a Panama hat

If you make a mistake with the size of the hat, or your child grows up, the size of the hat can be easily changed.

To do this, just increase or decrease the distance between the buttons that you sewed onto the back section of the panama hat.

This is how cute and original this hat will look on the back of your child or doll’s head.

It is better to place soft cotton fabric inside such a panama hat.

The long-awaited time of year – summer – is just around the corner. During the long winter days, we all miss the summer sun so much. I want to quickly bask in its warm rays.

But, despite this desire, you should always remember that solar energy is also fraught with danger. It is especially important to protect our children, because enjoying the summer weather, they are ready to spend the whole day playing outside. How to protect children from such an insidious sun?

Of course, the main protectors are hats. They protect the children's heads by covering them with themselves. Summer hats are varied. These are caps, scarves, berets, baseball caps, bandanas, hats, and of course Panama hats. It is the children's Panama hat that our today's master class will be dedicated to.

Surely every girl has a little dream of having a large selection of panama hats in her wardrobe to match every summer outfit. Our master class will help mothers or grandmothers make this wish come true, since sewing a Panama hat with your own hands for a girl is very simple. To do this, you only need to select the appropriate material and you can get down to business.

So, what materials and tools will be needed to sew a summer bucket hat for a girl? And not just a Panama hat, but a double-sided Panama hat, which increases its functionality.

Materials for sewing a children's hat:

  1. Textile. For summer children's clothes, always choose fabrics with natural composition, since only such material will protect babies from the sultry heat. In this master class we will show you how to sew a double-sided Panama hat, so you need to prepare two pieces of fabric of 30 cm each with a width of 110 cm. When choosing a material, pay attention to the quality of its coloring, so that later when shearing the fabric does not “fade”. It is advisable to select fabrics with a similar composition to avoid shrinkage of one relative to the other. For the same purpose, before cutting, fabrics must be decatified, that is, washed or steamed.
  2. Sewing threads to match.
  3. Needles, pins.
  4. Tailor's chalk or disappearing fabric marker.
  5. Scissors.

Pattern of a Panama hat (Panama hat) with brim for a girl:

The next thing you need to prepare is the Panama hat pattern. Print it on A4 paper and cut it out.

If you plan to use the pattern many times, we recommend that you transfer it to regular plastic film, as it is more durable than paper.

How to sew a Panama hat for a girl with your own hands - master class with photos:

So, having prepared all the details of the pattern, you can start cutting out a children's bucket hat with a brim. Lay out the fabric in one layer and use pins to secure the part of the upper part of the crown (part No. 1). Observe the direction of the grain thread. Trace with chalk, remembering to transfer all the control marks.

Cut this piece with a 1.5cm seam allowance.

Now fold the fabric in two layers.

And secure the pattern of the lower part of the crown (part No. 2) with pins, aligning the part with the fold line of the fabric. Don't forget to move the parts alignment marks.

Cut this piece with the same allowances as the previous one.

In the same way, cut out part No. 3 - the brim of the Panama hat.

These are the finished parts for one side of the Panama hat. From another piece of fabric, you should cut out all the same parts for the second side of the Panama hat.

Fasten the lower part of the crown of the panama hat, folded in half, with pins to prevent the fabric from shifting.

Execute on sewing machine seam, retreating from the edge 1.5 cm.

Seam allowances must be ironed.

The seam on the crown of the second (red) side of the Panama hat is done in the same way.

Now connect the lower part of the crown with pins to its upper part, aligning control mark A on both parts. If you are not used to using pins for basting, you can baste these parts with hand stitches.

This is what it looks like from the inside.

Stitch these parts together using a sewing machine, leaving an allowance of 1.5 cm.

Remove the basting. Turn the allowances to the bottom of the crown of the Panama hat.

Turn out the resulting part.

To fix the seam allowances in the desired position, machine stitch along the seam, at a distance of 3 mm.

Do the same with the red (second) part of the children's Panama hat.
Now let's prepare the fields of the Panama hat. To do this, fasten the parts folded in half with the right side inward with pins.

Use a sewing machine to sew a seam with a 1.5cm seam allowance.

Also iron the allowances in different directions.

The fields of the second side of the Panama hat are performed in the same way.

Place the finished brims of both sides of the Panama with the right sides facing each other. Secure with pins.

Use a sewing machine to stitch along the outside edge.

To remove excess thickness, cut seam allowances close to the stitching.

Turn the brim of the Panama hat right side out.

Iron them well.

Now the margins need to be stitched along the outer edge at a distance of 7mm. This is necessary to fix the layers. If you want to give the brim of your Panama hat additional rigidity, you can lay a few more lines in the same way at a distance of 1 cm of arcs from each other. But this time we decided to leave it as it is.

Fix the open internal sections of the fields together using hand stitches.

At the bottom of the crown of the red side, also place a line of hand stitches. Pull the ends of the thread and gather it slightly, distributing the folds evenly.

Using pins, connect the brim of the Panama hat and the crown (red) as shown in the photo. Do not forget to align mark B when doing this.

Then sew on a sewing machine.

Iron the allowances towards the crown.

On the second (green) crown, iron the seam allowance along the bottom edge to the wrong side.

Place this part of the crown into the already prepared panama, aligning the wrong sides. Connect them together with pins or baste them with hand stitches.

Turn the Panama hat inside out.

Sew the crown to the brim of the Panama hat.

A reversible children's bucket hat is ready to delight your little girl. If desired, it can be supplemented with some removable decoration.

The warm season has arrived, sunny days, swimming, walking. The mood is high. So it's time to sit down at the machine and sew something new. 🙂

I suggest sew a children's hat for a girl, which is just in time for the season.

p.s Using the same pattern, you can sew a Panama hat for a boy, by reducing the width of the brim.

The process will not take much time. And the result will be beautiful and delight you and those around you, and most importantly, protect your baby’s head from the sun.

Materials:

  • The main fabric is approximately 0.5 x 0.5 m square.
  • Thermal fabric for strengthening fields 7 cm x 60 cm.
  • Threads matching or matching the color of the fabric
  • Bow (flower) for decoration (optional)
  • Tools (machine, scissors, basting needles)
  • Pattern

You can easily draw a Panama hat pattern yourself using this diagram:

To build a pattern according to the right size measure your head circumference and divide by 3.14 (Og/3.14=D)- this will be the diameter of the bottom of the Panama hat.

The brim radius of a Panama hat is calculated using the formula:

R2 = Head circumference/2*3.14 + brim width of the hat (6-13 cm).

Crown - rectangle AB = A1B1 - head circumference, AA1 = BB1 - depth of the product (usually 9 -10 cm)

Solid geometry. 🙂

How to sew a children's Panama hat. Master class with photos.

We cut out the details of the panama hat from the prepared fabric (according to this pattern):

Add seam allowances of 1.5 cm.

Crown - 2 folded parts

Fields - 4 details

Panama hat bottom 2 parts

We sew two identical panama hats.

1. Connect fields Panama hats along the side seams. Press the seams. You will get two circles.

2. Connect the edges of the crown. Iron the seam.

Strengthen the brim of the panama hat with thermal fabric. Cut according to the pattern WITHOUT seam allowances. Apply to the margins with the rough side down! PUT the iron on the part and hold it for 8 seconds. We alternately move the iron to other areas of the part. Important: do not use the iron!!!

P.S. I made it in two parts (technical situation 🙂). But it’s better with one solid piece.

3. Attach the bottom of the panama hat to the crown (face to face) using basting or needles. Stitch on a typewriter.

4. Connect the parts of the panama hat (brim and cap) together using basting. Stitch on a typewriter.

5. Repeat with the remaining parts. You will get two identical blanks.

P.S. The brim of the inner panama hat does not need to be reinforced with thermal fabric.

6. “Face to face” we put one Panama hat into another.

7. We make a seam in a circle. Leave a hole to turn the product inside out.

8. We turn our Panama hat inside out.

9. Close the hole. Iron well. Sew along the very edge of the panama hat's brim.

10. Sew on the flower (bow), turning the front half of the brim to the hat.

We catch the model and try it on. 🙂 Ours Panama hat ready for a girl.

This Panama hat is suitable not only for men, but also for women who prefer a sporty style.

Look at the photo, the Panama hat fits tightly on your head, so it won’t fly off in the wind, the wide brim reliably protects from the sun, and the denim fabric and cotton lining allow air to pass through perfectly.

The given size of the panama hat pattern from jeans is suitable for sizes 58-60. If your measurements are larger or smaller, you can adjust the size of the Panama hat when trying it on.

Construct the details of the pattern on paper, there should be three of them: crown, brim and bottom; cut out.

Open the old jeans at the seams and cut out the details: 1 piece. bottom; 2 children crown and 2 children. fields. Since I had a lot of fabric, I cut out the crown from 4 parts, instead of the required 2.

Do not forget about the seam allowances on each side of the part - about 0.7-1 cm.

Cut out the lining along the top parts. For lining fabric it is best to use natural fabrics- chintz, linen, calico, satin, etc. If the fabric is new, it must be washed and ironed with a hot iron to avoid shrinkage when washing the Panama hat.

How to sew a men's Panama hat from jeans, master class

We sew the parts of the crown from the main and lining fabrics, press the seams and, if desired, stitch them.

To the crown of denim baste the bottom. We do a fitting. If everything is satisfactory, we attach it using a sewing machine. If you are not satisfied with the size, we sew it in or sew it at the seams, achieving a good fit to the head.

The seams can be sewn off if desired.

We do the same with the lining fabric parts.

We glue interlining with an adhesive base to the details of the fields made of lining fabric.

We sew the fields of the main and lining fabric along the short sides, and press the seams.

We baste and then grind the edges of the brim along the flyaway using a sewing machine, trimming the seam allowances to 3 mm.

Sew the top edge of the brim, connecting the parts of the top and lining.

We baste and then use a sewing machine to sew the brim to the denim parts (crown + bottom).

Make sure that the side seams and the middle of the parts match!

Then we sew the crown allowance from the lining fabric with oblique stitches.

We trim the brim of the Panama hat with finishing stitches to the width of the foot.

That's it! As you can see, after spending very little time, anyone can sew a men's panama hat from jeans with their own hands.
