Postcard with 3D applique

Such a postcard looks very impressive, but some difficulties may arise with it during storage - it can only stand on a shelf, attracting attention; folding or putting it in a box will be difficult. And making such a postcard with your own hands is not so difficult.

In order to do it, we will need:

  • Thick colored cardboard
  • Multi-colored double-sided
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

You need to make three different strips different widths using a ruler. It is important to know that their length should be much longer: after they are folded into an accordion, they will become almost half shorter. Therefore, the bottom strip should be the widest, and then in descending order.

We bend the accordion, and then fold it in half. Glue the layers of the cake onto the card and straighten the accordion. We add details like letters and candles.

This manufacturing option is suitable not only for birthdays, but also on New Year, when the accordion can be folded into a Christmas tree shape.

Making flowers from paper

As volumetric applique you can make decor created using the technique, which can otherwise be called "paper filigree". Each quilling element is a strip of paper folded into many layers and repeating some form. Most often, petals, leaves, and hearts are used as shapes. If you don’t have enough time and patience to cut out a lot of strips, then in many stores you can find ready-made blanks.

Many grandmothers love to care for flowers, and they take great pride in their work. Therefore, flowers on a postcard with your own hands will be very appropriate, especially since they can be made very easily.

  1. A spiral is drawn on double-sided colored paper
  2. Using scissors we cut along its contour
  3. We compress the spiral, giving it the shape of a flower. It is not necessary to glue each row; it is enough to glue the base firmly, because the paper easily remembers the shape that was given to it.

Postcard panorama

The set of materials is the same as in the previous version.

Opening such a gift, your grandmother will definitely be surprised! Creating such a postcard with your own hands with a panorama requires preliminary preparation and work with your imagination, but the result of the work will certainly justify itself.

If you choose this option, you will have to work hard before you start and draw at least a rough sketch. You can use the Internet to solve the problem, which has a lot of ready-made options and templates.

With scrapbooking elements

This most popular form of art has gathered a lot of fans. By going into the department with it, you can almost easily find everything you might need to create a gift. The main thing here is not to overdo it with decorative elements. . Best option - this is a piece of lace, wooden blanks in the form of an apron, dishes and sweets in honor of the grandmother’s culinary works. You can complement your product with dried flowers and letters. It is important to remember that such rather heavy decorative elements are best glued onto very thick cardboard, which can be purchased in the same department.

Postcard with a window

This card looks fascinating and is easy to make. You will need:

  • Thick colored cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Transparent notebook cover that will serve as a window
  • Small decorative element for filling postcards
  • Ruler

A regular sheet of colored cardboard is folded in half, and the other is cut in half. A window of the required size is cut out of a whole sheet of cardboard, which is determined by the decorative elements that are going to fill it. On the inside you need to glue a notebook cover or similar transparent material slightly larger than the size of the window itself. Decor is placed in its center: dried flowers, beads, small decorations. The remaining half of the cardboard sheet is glued on top, leaving the part opposite the window not glued. After waiting until it dries completely, you can sign the postcard. Ready!

Making an apron card for your grandmother's birthday with your own hands

Almost every person associates the image of a grandmother with the aroma of baked goods and other delicious dishes, so on the occasion of her birthday, a symbolic card in the form of an apron will be relevant. We will prepare the following materials for it:

  • colored cardboard;
  • a piece of fabric;
  • ribbons;
  • buttons;
  • glue gun;
  • glue;
  • scissors.

First we will make the base for the card. Using a printed template, draw an apron on colored cardboard and cut it out along the contour (see photo of the sample below).

We cut out a pocket from a bright colored piece of fabric or suitable paper. If desired, it can be decorated with flowers, or a spoon, rolling pin and other relevant paper attributes can be placed inside.

Cut a piece of thin satin ribbon, using a glue gun, fix it in the upper part of the apron, decorate it with buttons.

We supplement the card with a congratulatory inscription.

Perhaps all grandmothers, and women in general, love flowers. For your grandma's birthday, you can make a beautiful, unusual card with flowers that will delight her for a long time. Let's prepare materials:

  • colored double-sided paper and cardboard;
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • glue.

Let's start with making flowers. They can be made from paper of any color, for example, you can choose your grandmother's favorite color.

Fold a square piece of paper in half, then in half again, and finally into a triangle. Cut in a semicircle. We unfold the flower, cut out one petal, and glue it together. It turns out volumetric flower. We make seven such blanks. We also cut out a couple of simple leaves from green paper.

Now the resulting flowers need to be glued together in a certain way. The best way to do this is based on the photo below. Glue along the black dots.

Fold a sheet of colored cardboard in half; this blank will be the base of the postcard. Glue the resulting flowers inside. As a result, we get an interesting voluminous postcard, which is suitable for both a regular grandma’s birthday and an anniversary.

If a grandmother loves knitting and pleases her children and grandchildren with warm woolen clothes, she will be pleased to receive a postcard with original decoration in the form of a ball of thread. For it you will need:

  • double-sided cardboard;
  • colored paper;
  • knitting thread;
  • glue gun;
  • curly scissors;
  • toothpicks.
  1. From a sheet of cardboard of the color you like, we make the base of the card: cut out a square, fold it in half. The edges can be trimmed with curly scissors.
  2. From colored paper of a different color, cut out two rectangles of such a size that they can fit on the front side of the card. We also process the edges with curly scissors. Glue them to the base.
  3. From white or other paper suitable color We cut out two flowers, the edges of which we wrap inward using a toothpick.
  4. We wind a small ball of thread and pierce it with two toothpicks.
  5. We glue the decorative elements to rectangles of colored paper on the base, and decorate the core of the flower with beads. We add an inscription if desired.

You can congratulate your grandmother on her birthday with a simple but very symbolic card, decorated with the outline of a child’s hand. To make it you will need:

  • cardboard;
  • pencil;
  • paints.
  1. We make the base of the card: fold a sheet of cardboard in half.
  2. On the front side of the future postcard we outline the child’s hand with a simple pencil. Instead of a hand, you can draw a flower, a heart or any other shape.
  3. The child will fill this outline with multi-colored fingerprints.

Grandma will be happy to receive such a postcard from both her grandson and granddaughter. You can make it even with a very small child, but how many pleasant emotions it will give to your beloved granny!

A selection of videos on the topic of the article

In addition to those listed above, there are a huge number of ideas with which you can create beautiful, bright, touching cards for your beloved grandmothers. Some of them can be seen in the offered videos.

You can make a card for your grandmother as a gift for her birthday, just like that, or, as in our case, for Mother’s Day. After all, the grandmother is the mother of one of the parents. I present a master class of our idea, I will describe not only how to make it, but also share several possible options text.

Hello dear friends of the blog, tomorrow we celebrate Mother’s Day in our country of residence. This event is similar to March 8 in Russia, except that it is celebrated only by the female half who already have children. My son, 6 years 7 months old, composed a poem for me at school. At the end of the article I will show you his gift, and most importantly it will be one of the ideas on how to write a congratulation text. We also prepared a card with a rather interesting meaning for my husband’s mother. So, less words– more to do, let’s start the master class.

How to make a postcard for grandma as a gift

What every granny will appreciate is the attention shown by her grandchildren. This will not require large expenses, but thinking about the meaning of the craft, what meaning it will convey to the recipient - this is the main attribute of success. For a couple of days I went through the motives of bouquets in my head - usually, it’s cliched; collages of photographs - a lot of material, but there is not a single photo with grandma.

And then I decided to look into my bins to create something together with my son. I was determined to only use what I already had in the house. Anyone who works with children will understand me well: every time we think about an activity, we rush to the store, buy everything we “need” or just like, and soon we discover that we urgently need to sort it out. Sitting over a huge drawer, I took each item in my hands and thought: “What exactly can a child make from it with his own hands?” The idea came unexpectedly, it surprised even me, but it turned out beautifully, moderately soulful and appropriate to the meaning of the holiday.

What motivated me or necessary things:

  • Chenille wire;
  • a piece of twine;
  • sheet of paper for scrapbooking.

You can still see the buttons in the photo; Alexander likes to work with them, but this time he did without them. We also replaced the stationery silicone with hot silicone (I helped my boy attach the parts with a heat gun).

As you can see, I immediately drew a tree on the basis and asked my son: “You already know what a family tree is?” The answer was positive and we quickly drew on a white sheet of paper the branches of an ascending pedigree, that is, starting precisely with the name of my child. So, we figured out once again that grandma is dad’s mother and that although he has a sister (aunt) and she has children, Alexander is the only successor to the family name.

The idea is clear, let's start implementing it. In order for the crown to “lay down” beautifully, we started from the trunk. We cut the twine into pieces and glued it onto the drawn base.

For the crown, the master took strips of wire and rolled them into rings; he chose the technique himself.

The next step is to attach them to the paper, starting from the bottom. It immediately becomes clear that spirals of different sizes are needed so that there is no free space between them. To do this, my six-year-old cut the wire in half.

Now all that remains is to attach the apples and then my boy says:

Mom, grandmother Teersa has 5 grandchildren, which means there should be five apples.

Of course, why not! So it was my grandson who came up with the idea of how to sign the gift.

How to sign a postcard

The lyceum where my son studies has already introduced a computer literacy lesson. For now this is just learning the keys in game form, but my boy set out to learn to type quickly. Therefore, just take my word for it that all the text was typed and printed by him.

On the front side, it was decided to write only “For Grandma.” The child was delighted with the possibility of cutting with curly scissors. I don’t even know why we use them extremely rarely. Inside is the following text:

The five apples are: Gabriela, Gianmarco, Sebastian, Daniel and I, Alexander. Happy Mother's Day to you grandma! You gave me the most valuable thing in life - my dad.

If you came to my blog for the first time, I’ll explain that our life takes place in the Dominican Republic, where national language is Spanish. In my opinion, the signature fits perfectly with the theme of the performance. And we will see the reaction to it tomorrow.

  1. Chocolate is a horse.
  2. Rose - frost.
  3. The world is a reference point.
  4. Waiting is a date.
  5. Ruby - name day.

Mami, para ti hay un pastelito
Y tambien un chocolate.
Estamos en un buen mundo
Yo te quiero muy profundo.

Tu heres muy preciosa
Te voy a regalar una rosa.
Yo tengo mucha esperanza
Para que tu bailes Linda danza.

Te voy a dar un rubi
Y yo voy a comer un mani.
Y para ti es una buena solution
Cantar Linda cancion.

If translated literally, the meaning is clear, but the poetic beauty is completely lost. And yet…

Mommy has a curly cupcake for you
And also chocolate.
We live in a good world
I love you very deeply.

You are very beautiful
I'll give you a rose.
I have great hope
that you will dance a beautiful dance.

I'll give you a ruby
I'll eat peanuts myself.
And this is a good reason for you
Sing a beautiful song.

Of course I will sing and dance with a tambourine for my favorite person in the world!

But let's return to the older generation. I think children are 5-6 years old with a little help from a parent, but junior schoolchildren almost independently, they will be able to compose quatrains for their beloved grannies. I am sure that such filling of a handmade gift will touch the heart of each of them. What do you think, dear readers?

I’m saying goodbye to you, I need to get some sleep, because tomorrow I have a well-deserved holiday - I’m a mother!

What to give grandma for her birthday?

What can I do to please her?

Of course, you can ask your mother to buy something in the store, add a bouquet of flowers and calm down at that. But if you want to do something of your own, not limited to purchased surprises, then the first thing you think about is congratulations.

Kind words can be included in a homemade card. This type of handmade is called cardmaking, but sometimes it is also called scrapbooking (in fact, it is the production of decorated photo albums). Many quite serious people make beautiful designer postcards and even make money from it.

Let's try too.

How to prepare to make a postcard with your own hands?

First, let's study the topic - for this we will gather information in books or on various sites where craftsmen share their secrets of mastery.

The main thing is to understand what we want. What it will look like birthday card for grandma?

You can make a postcard in one plane, or you can make an opening one. In this case, the base is folded in half.

The simplest thing is to paint on white cardboard and give it to your grandmother. But this is not interesting!

Many different beautiful things can be added to a flat card so that it becomes voluminous, tangible, a real gift, and not just a “unsubscribe”.

What materials and tools are needed to make a postcard?

  • You will need a base, that is, thick paper or cardboard. You can buy designer accessories at a hobby store, or you can simply cut out a piece of the required size from any hard cardboard surface, cover, and then cover it with various interesting things.
  • Paints, colored markers - for inscriptions and drawings.
  • To decorate the postcard, you will again need colored paper and everything that you decide to attach to a sheet of cardboard and that can show the artist’s skill. Suitable pieces of beautiful fabrics, lace, buttons, beads, artificial stones from unnecessary beads, rhinestones, small cones, dried flowers, leaves, etc.
  • Glue and/or thread. Double sided tape.
  • Scissors; perhaps a stapler and an awl if you need to sew or “fasten” something.

    Postcard design options

There are a lot of them. You can start with simple ones, for the little ones. We cut out arbitrary flowers, a jug and stars, and glue it all onto paper. Grandmother will be pleased with the first gifts her grandchildren made with your own hands!

You can decide on more complex products; they are created by older children or adults who want to help make a card for their grandmother’s birthday.

Can be done 3D postcard- it will look very impressive. But you have to try. This will take time, although there is nothing particularly difficult here. The main thing is accuracy and attention, so as not to spoil any part with glue.

3D postcards open up beautifully; if you glue flowers together, you get a lovely bouquet.

Master class on making 3D postcards.

Need to pay special attention to the following:

  • glue is applied pointwise to the red marks, only along the edge of the petals, the inside of the assembly remains free, not glued. This is fundamentally important, because otherwise the “bouquet” will not open;
  • You need to glue the flowers in order, as the pictures are numbered. Moreover, apply to the previous elements only in the manner indicated.

To work, you need a sheet of colored cardboard or thick paper, seven squares of white paper, scissors, glue, a marker for coloring and glitter (optional).

Fold the squares 3 times diagonally and cut out 7 identical flowers with 8 sectors. We cut out one sector.

We color the templates and begin gluing them together as shown in the photo. The paint is applied only to 6 petals, one remains clean, and the neighboring “slices” will be glued to it.

In photo 13: glue is applied to the edge of the upper sector of the lower element. The following template is attached to it.

In photo 14: spot application of glue to 3 sectors, to which the next element is completely glued.

A happy birthday card for grandma will cheer up the recipient, make her happy and remind her of your attention, love or friendship.
