Cosmetologists do not recommend using one sunscreen for the body and face. The skin in different parts of our body requires specific care and protection. Facial skin care should be gentle. Choose creams with SPF that are intended for the face.

Manufacturers include sun protection factor in various cosmetics:

  • Foundation;
  • Sunscreen;

Zinc oxide is a safe, broad-spectrum mineral filter that is not absorbed into the skin. Remaining on the surface, it creates a sunscreen, protecting the skin from short UVB rays, blocking the possibility of burning, and long, deeply penetrating UVA rays, which cause photoaging and provoke melanoma.

Natural oils, having a natural sun protection factor, on the one hand act as chemical filters and promote an even tan, and on the other hand, nourish and restore skin damaged by ultraviolet radiation, heal perfectly and nourish with antioxidants.

Waterproof formula. Suitable for all skin types.

Suitable for adults and children from 0 years old.

Avoid direct contact with the sun from 11-00 to 16-00 - this is the most active phase of exposure to sunlight on the skin and can lead to burns.

Compound

    Aqua (Natural Water), Zinc Oxide (Zinc Oxide), Calendula officinalis floral water (Calendula Hydrolate), Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil (Sesame Oil), Rosa Canina Fruit Oil (Rose Hip Oil), Leen seed oil (Linseed Oil), Polyglyceryl- 3 Polyricinoleate (and) Polyglyceryl-3 Ricinoleate (Plant emulsifier), Prunus amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Almond oil), Glycerin (Glycerin), Isoamyl Laurate (and) Isoamyl Cocoate (Plant emollient), Pentylene Glycol (Plant pentylene glycol), Sodium Chloride ( Sea salt), Benzyl Alcohol (Benzyl alcohol), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Melaleuca alternifolia oil (Tea tree essential oil), Potassium Sorbate (Potassium sorbate), Benzoic Acid (Benzoic acid), Lavandula Angustifolia flower oil (Lavender essential oil) , Macleya microcarpa (Maxim.) Fedde. Extract, Juglans Regia Leaf Extract, Rosa cinnamomea L. Extract.

UV rays are beneficial for skin health, but only in moderation. Products with SPF help limit their exposure and protect the epidermis from burning. It is important to be able to correctly select and apply this cosmetics, to distinguish an effective product from low-quality creams.

Sun protection factor

There are two types of radiation - A and B. The first type (UVA) does not cause burns on the skin or redness, but causes maximum harm in the form of accelerating photoaging and provoking the development of cancer. An excess of the second type of rays (UVB) is accompanied by hyperemia and blisters on the epidermis, a burning sensation and itching. SPF protection works exclusively against B-radiation. Cosmetics with UVA filters are additionally marked with the PPD index.

The SPF value shows how many times the skin becomes more resistant to exposure to the sun. For example, the number 50 next to the protection factor means that the epidermis, lubricated with cream, will safely withstand 50 times more ultraviolet B rays than without applying cosmetics. Products with SPF should not be used to extend your stay on the beach, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. They are designed to reduce the risk of forced exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

Sunscreen SPF 15

Products with the specified protection factor value provide a high degree of radiation filtration. Cream sunscreen SPF 10-20 guarantees reflection of about 95% of UVB. At the same time, the cosmetic product in question increases the skin’s resistance to negative effects by 15 times. This sunscreen is perfect for city dwellers who are forced to stay in the open sun for a long time. People with dark skin can take SPF 15 to the beach; those with “porcelain” epidermis are better off purchasing other preparations.

Cosmetics with the described meaning belong to intensive protective products. The most commonly recommended sunscreen for the face is SPF 30, but there are similar products for the body. The filters in these preparations reflect approximately 97% of ultraviolet rays. SPF 30 for face or body increases skin resistance to UVB by 30 times and prevents the epidermis from burning. Submitted cosmetics They are considered universal because they are well suited for any color type.

Sunscreen SPF 50

This product is also called san-block; it provides protection from 99.5% of ultraviolet type B. Sunscreen for the face SPF 50 with additional PPD marking will help prevent skin photoaging. These drugs also prevent the development of squamous cell dermal cancer. A sunscreen with a protection factor of 50 is the maximum intensive drug in the segment under consideration. It is suitable for both those with dark and very light skin.

Sunscreen SPF 100

The facts stated above indicate that a tread factor value greater than 50 is a standard marketing technique. You should not purchase such sunscreen - no cosmetic product can filter out 100% of ultraviolet rays. The products described often do not meet medical quality criteria and contain many parabens, which cause even more harm to the skin than ultraviolet radiation.

Composition of sunscreen

Before purchasing the cosmetics in question, it is important to carefully study its ingredients. They primarily characterize a sunscreen - which is better and safer, and more intensely protects the skin from UV radiation. IN good means There are two types of filters:

  1. Physical – zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These components work as reflectors; they remain on the surface of the epidermis and screen ultraviolet rays.
  2. Chemical - benzophenone, octinoxate or avobenzone. Such components are absorbed into the skin and theoretically convert the sun's energy into heat, protecting against both types of ultraviolet radiation (A and B). There is no medical evidence for this process yet, so dermatologists recommend careful use of sunscreen with chemical filters.

Other physical ingredients that provide UV protection:

  • parsol 1789;
  • Mexoril (XL, SX);
  • octocrylene;
  • bemotrinizole;
  • Tinosorb.

Chemical components:

  • oxybenzone;
  • escalol;
  • accused;
  • octyl methoxycinnamate;
  • para-amino-benzoic acid;
  • uvasorb met.

Additionally, the products described should contain compounds that prevent drying and irritation of the skin. A nourishing & hydrating sunscreen good quality contains:

  • bisabolol;
  • plant extracts (calendula, chamomile and others);
  • natural oils;
  • coenzymes;
  • minerals.

Women are accustomed to using decorative cosmetics regularly or even daily. Many of the drugs presented do not combine well with it and can cause the appearance of an oily sheen on the skin, the formation of comedones or changes in pigment in the foundation. Before purchasing a protective product, dermatologists advise studying the rating of sunscreens for each type of epidermis. This will help you choose the most effective and at the same time high-quality product.

Sunscreen for oily skin

Those with overly active sebaceous glands and certain blemishes (pimples, blackheads) need to look for non-comedogenic cosmetics without mineral oils with a high value of the protection factor. In pursuit of beautiful tan Many people sometimes forget about the importance of sun protection. But you can not only get sunburn, but also destroy collagen cells, and this will lead to accelerated photoaging. You can protect yourself only by using sunscreen, when choosing which you need to focus on your skin phototype and its sun protection factor.

How to choose the right cream?

All sunscreens are labeled with the abbreviation SPF along with a numeric indication of the degree of protection. It ranges from 2 to 50+. The higher it is, the longer you can stay under the scorching sun. After bathing in water, the cream should be applied again; the inscription on the bottle that it is moisture resistant says that it protects the skin even in water, but does not mean that it is not washed off. Among the many lotions, creams and sprays, you need to choose the right product so that it can completely protect the skin from negative influences.

Depending on the darkness of the skin, it is recommended:

  • SPF 50 and higher for people with very fair skin, usually they already have a lot of freckles on their body;
  • SPF from 11 to 30 suitable for children's skin and people with fair and sensitive skin;
  • SPF from 5 to 10– used for naturally dark skin that tans without burns;
  • SPF from 2 to 4 apply to people with dark skin.

In addition, the packaging of the cream should indicate that it contains UVA and UVB filters. And it’s better when they are both present, then there will be comprehensive protection against photoaging, burns and the prevention of cancer.

Advice. Remember protective creams should be applied 15-20 minutes before going out into the sun.

Please write in the comments - should we review the best sunscreens FOR CHILDREN?

Hello lovers of natural cosmetics! Mine I want to dedicate the first review for this site to the product that was difficult to do without this summer and fall on vacation - sunscreen Calendula SPF30 from Levrana.

Although it’s far from summer, I’ve only recently returned from vacation, where I was able to appreciate all the advantages and disadvantages of this cream, and now I’m in a hurry to add some fresh impressions! And I hope there are those among you who will go on vacation at sea in the fall or winter, and my review will be useful to someone

This year I was looking for natural sun protection, because... I myself began to take care of my health and switched to natural cosmetics, and I also had a daughter, for whom I especially wanted to find something safe.

My choice fell on Levrana sunscreen. With a relatively low cost for natural sunscreens - 730 rubles on the official website of the brand (similar creams from other brands are much more expensive), it has completely natural composition and it can be used for very young children.

By the way, let's take a look at compound .

Water, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Calendula Hydrolate, Almond Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Polyglyceryl-3 Ricinoleate (natural plant emulsifier), Vegetable Glycerin, Sesame Oil, Olive oil, benzyl alcohol, essential oil Tea Tree, SK-CO2 Macleay extract, SK-CO2 Walnut extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Lavender essential oil, SK-CO2 Rosehip extract, SK-CO2 Chamomile extract, SK-CO2 Seed extract.

I checked the composition using the Composition Assessment service website

As you can see, the composition does not raise any doubts.

Physical filters are used as protective agents - Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which are safer than chemical filters.

Chemical filters considered more effective, they absorb UV rays and provide better sun protection. But at the same time, they are more harmful, because... easily penetrate the body and bloodstream, some have hormonal effects, affect the reproductive system and can cause allergic reactions. Also, after a certain time, such filters react to the sun and lead to the formation of free radicals. Naturally, it is not advisable to choose sunscreens with such filters for children.

Physical filters They create a kind of protective screen on the skin, work on the principle of a mirror and reflect UV rays. They are not absorbed into the skin and are just suitable for protecting children from the sun. This is exactly the kind of remedy I was looking for!

Package

I really love it when cosmetics are packaged with some “zest”. Levrana has just such a twist - they additionally pack most glass bottles in a cardboard tube. And this sunscreen is no exception. The tube is very pleasant to the touch, as if it were silk, your hands are drawn to it. In addition to the aesthetic component, there is also a functional one:

The tube can then be used as a stand for something, for example, under makeup brushes.

It protects against leaks if suddenly the cream starts to flow out of the bottle, for example, on the road.

The tube contains all the necessary information about the cream - composition, expiration date, manufacturer and how to use it.

The cream itself is packaged in a dark glass bottle with a plastic pump dispenser. Bottle volume - 100 ml.

Cosmetics in glass, of course, look much more impressive than in plastic, and this is a more environmentally friendly packaging. But in this case it also has its disadvantages:

- Firstly, the glass bottle is quite heavy, which makes it not very convenient to take it with you

- Secondly, once you open the dispenser, you won’t be able to close it without loss. I tried to close it so that it would not leak in the bag, but to do this you need to screw it back in, and a lot of cream spills out. Even if you first remove the dispenser from the bottle, there is still quite a lot of product left in the tube, which also flows out when screwed in. (I hope I explained it clearly)

- Thirdly, the dispenser spout leaks during transportation.

All these disadvantages can be combined into one common and significant disadvantage for me - it is very inconvenient to take with you, both to the beach and on a long journey (especially on a plane), because Quite a lot of cream may leak out. The tube, of course, protects (if it weren’t for it, then all things could get dirty), but it’s unpleasant that the cream just spills out, and it’s also not comfortable to take a dirty bottle out of the tube.

In the photo you can see what happened to my cream after a trip to the sea, and in particular after a flight.

I did not reduce the rating because of the packaging, because... This does not affect the characteristics of the cream itself, but I liked it! But still, such packaging will be convenient only for those who regularly use sunscreen and plan to use it at home before going outside, and not, like me, only to take it with them to the beach or sea. What’s important to me when it comes to sunscreen is portability and the ability to take it with you everywhere.

Characteristics of the cream and my impressions of use

The consistency of the cream itself resembles white cosmetic milk.

When it dries (I’m writing this in case it does spill), it resembles putty with a strong white coating, which gets very dirty and is extremely difficult to clean.
At first I didn’t really like the aroma of the cream in the jar - it was so medicinal and herbal and smelled a little like chalk. But on the skin it opens up completely differently and then my nose can no longer tear itself away. The smell of chalk goes away, and fresh floral and herbal notes come to the fore. And for some reason, my nose detects very subtle notes of watermelon or birch sap, I can’t even really understand what exactly in the composition could give such a feeling) But the aroma becomes very pleasant and summery)

Many creams with physical filters leave a white residue on the skin. This cream is no exception. And before using it, I read many reviews that this particular cream left very strong white stains, while others wrote that everything was fine. I have experienced both conditions myself. And I’ll tell you a secret - it all depends on the method of application and the condition of the skin.

How to apply cream so that there is no white plaque on the skin

I noticed that the better the skin is hydrated, the less noticeable the cream is on it. My skin itself is quite dry. The first time I applied it right after a shower and in fairly hot weather, it was practically invisible at all. Repeated attempts were not so successful, because... my skin lacked hydration, so I started applying coconut oil, as the manufacturer advises, and then the cream itself. This makes it much easier to apply and is not visible on the skin.

In the photo you can see the difference in how the hand looks after applying the cream to dry skin (left) and moisturized with oil (right).

WITH I will say once that that day I had very dry and dehydrated skin, so this is the maximum whiteness that this cream can give

So, if you have dry skin like me, I recommend layering it with any carrier oil that hydrates your skin well. I like coconut the most for these purposes. And if you have oilier or well-moisturized skin, then you can do without oil. But, in any case, I think it’s better to apply the cream to a small area of skin first to see how it feels on you.

For baby, I always use coconut oil first for extra hydration.

I don’t apply cream to my face to avoid strong whiteness, and for these purposes I use other creams or powder with SPF.

I think the big advantage of this cream is that it is waterproof. And this is true. You can apply it once before the beach - and that’s it! You can sunbathe, swim, dry yourself with a towel - the cream will remain in place and provide reliable protection from the sun. Moreover, even after several baths it will not wash off, unlike most other creams. I have never seen such durability! It was enough for our family to stay on the beach for 3-4 hours without re-application (although the manufacturer still recommends reapplying it every 1-2 hours and after swimming).

At the same time, the cream is washed off quite easily. warm water with soap or shower gel. But if you try to wash off the cream just like that without soap, you will fail.

Also, after rinsing off, the skin remains quite soft and moisturized, due to the content in the cream natural oils- almond, flaxseed, sesame and olive.

So, let me summarize.

Main advantages:

1. Quite low price among natural sunscreens

2. Completely natural composition

3. Can be used for small children

4. Waterproof, won't wash off after swimming

5. Provides reliable sun protection

6. Very economical consumption

7. Does not dry out the skin, it is quite soft and moisturized after use

And only 2 minuses:

1. Not convenient to take with you due to packaging

2. May leave a strong white cast when applied to dry skin.

Overall, I'm happy with this cream! And if you are looking for a natural sunscreen for the whole family, and one that doesn’t cost more than 100 rubles, then I recommend taking a closer look at it!
