And Prince William continues a large-scale charity campaign, Heads Together, the main goal of which is to destroy the stereotype that people should hide their mental problems. According to the initiators of the charity campaign, many people do not seek help from specialists and do not want to admit that they are experiencing mental health problems for fear of being ridiculed. It is this fear that destroys families and leads to other sad consequences.

Today the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited a secondary school in Essex, located in south-east England. The Prince and Duchess spoke to teenagers about how to cope with pressure in life.

When Kate and William appeared at the event, they were met by the Vice-Lord of Essex, Jonathan Hudges, but unexpectedly for everyone gathered, the 72-year-old man fell. Prince William immediately ran to Jonathan and helped him up. Fortunately, Hadjes was not injured in the fall.

The guests were very scared, but the culprit of the commotion assured those gathered that everything was fine with him. A little later, William, Kate and Jonathan Hudges were already laughing at everything that had happened.

Journalists have already joked that Hudges fell when he saw the racy slit on Kate Middleton's dress. Note that the Duchess chose a blue dress with black and white polka dots for the event, which she complemented with nude pumps, and looked very elegant - no wonder she wore it the other day

As you know, royal protocol dictates its own rules both in the behavior of the wives of the heirs to the throne and in the choice of clothing. The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle breaks some rules, for example, the wife of Prince Harry often appears in trousers - something that Princess Diana and Duchess Kate Middleton did not allow themselves before her. But there is one fashion detail, which connects all these beautiful women, namely, the polka dot print, which we will talk about today.

History of origin

Polka dot print appeared in the fashion world in the 1920s, but fashionistas from all over the world were in no hurry to try it on themselves, since polka dots were intended for clothing of flamenco musicians and dancers.

Girls and women began using print as clothing for everyday life in the 1950s. Polka dots owe their rise to the fashion Olympus to the house Christian Dior, whose designers were the first to include it in their collection calling it “Polka dot”.

Most of all, polka dots appealed to women in the United States. And how could one pass him by if Marilyn Monroe herself appeared in dresses and swimsuits with a polka dot pattern?

Windsor Princesses' Choice

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, made everyone remember the polka dot pattern. Kate, during a photo shoot for the royal family in honor of Prince Charles's anniversary, delighted fans with a new dress (the Duchess is known for her thriftiness and wearing the same thing many times). The blue dress with white polka dots from the Alessandra Rich brand, which actress Abigail Spencer wore before Kate at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, was reminiscent of Princess Diana's outfit.

The queen of human hearts posed in a similar dress in 1985 at Kensington Palace. 33 years later, Diana’s eldest daughter-in-law repeated her image.

But Kate Middleton's fashion repeats after Princess Diana don't end there. We give specific examples.

Princess Diana in Canada, 1983

Kate Middleton during the London Olympics, 2013

Diana preferred various shades dresses with Dots pattern (polka dot print). In 1989, Prince Charles's wife appeared at an event in a sky blue dress with white polka dots from the Victoria Station brand.

Kate wore an almost identical Altuzarra dress to the Stewards Academy in 2016.

At a polo match in 1987, Princess Diana charmed her subjects in a black and white polka dot dress from Victor Edelstein. Kate opted for a similar look, but from the Italian house Dolce & Gabbana, for her appearance at Wimbledon last year.

It is worth noting that Kate also prefers to appear in front of cameras after the birth of her child in similar outfits as her mother-in-law: Diana showed the world newborn William in a polka dot dress. The Duchess of Cambridge did not change traditions and came out to reporters after the birth of Prince George in a blue polka dot dress from Jenny Packham.

Ever since Kate Middleton's first joint appearances as Prince William's official girlfriend, she has been passionately with Diana. Something tells us that Catherine herself, both already in the status of a duchess and before her wedding to her royal chosen one, was looking for inspiration in the style of her mother-in-law. It is worth recalling that, even if some of Diana’s outfits from the 80s now seem ridiculous, her contribution to the very image of the monarchy is difficult to underestimate. Compared to other members of the British royal family, Diana was a bright and memorable personality, which is why fashion exhibitions are still dedicated to her and auctions of her outfits are held.

The Duchess of Cambridge will also, of course, fall into the history of the British monarchy, but in order to enter it with fewer fashionable mistakes, she sometimes “spies” on Diana. Or is it in search of impeccable images for special occasions?

Cell

The “cage” print has “migrated” from style to style over different decades. Notice how both heroines clearly fell into the trends of their eras: Diana chose a suit with a broad-shouldered jacket, and Catherine chose a coat tailored like a dress to her figure.

Floral print

Floral dresses, and even with a high neck and long skirt, are simply ideal to create the image of an exemplary wife or simply a positive girl in everything. More than 30 years apart, Diana and Catherine send the same messages to their fans through their outfits.

Red dress

So many mothers in the world don’t even think much about what outfit they will wear when leaving the hospital. But Katherine’s stylists or she herself didn’t just think about it, but found parallels in order to get a guaranteed news story: the dresses of Katherine and Diana on the extracts turned out to be simply twins!

Houndstooth pattern

The print, so popular in those days, “ crow's foot"Diana wore it often, choosing the appropriate suit and long coat, and always very successfully. Katherine dared to experiment with this print once, and it turned out so-so: the accessories categorically did not match the coat, as if there should have been another thing in its place.

Blue dress

When you don't know what to wear to your own engagement party, just wear something that matches the color of your ring. Perhaps this is precisely the logic that Princess Diana and Kate Middleton followed in their time: their ring was with sapphire and diamonds, and their outfits were dark blue.

Polka dot dress

Another example not in favor of Katherine's stylist team. Please note that the drawing is presented absolutely identical, but how much the impression is changed by the accessories and the style of the dress itself: Diana seems from the outside a real lady, and Catherine's peas make her look like a schoolgirl at a party.

Evening dress with belt

The very moment when a real princess puts on a princess dress from a fairy tale. Diana looked gorgeous in her ruffled, waist-cinched dress, and the same could be said for Catherine, who opted for a similar style in the same color.

Red suit with skirt

In the 90s, “making a waist” on jackets and drawing overly feminine shapes was completely unnecessary, so the top of Diana’s suit is only slightly fitted, and Catherine’s jacket has a contrasting black belt and a once fashionable peplum-shaped frill.

Plaid coat

Again the cage and again almost one hundred percent adherence to the image of her predecessor on the part of Katherine’s stylists. Both coats are similar in pattern, cut and choice of shoes to complete the set.

Peas

And again the discharge, and again similar outfits. We hope that Katherine's stylists were deliberately looking for comparisons with Diana, which is why they chose a dress with the same pattern as Diana's at her first photo shoot leaving the hospital. The trick turned out to be effective, so, obviously, with the third child of the duchess, they resorted to playing on the similarities again.

Kate may be royalty, but when it comes to fashion and style, she's no different from us. Seriously - she repeats her images and several times she even risked wearing something that high society would not have looked at so approvingly if we weren’t talking about the wife of one of the heirs.

But here's another characteristic of Kate: everything she wears has full taste and style. The Duchess looks confident enough in all her looks, dressing for the occasion wherever she is and however much she stands out from the crowd.

Kate's refined taste is directly related to her self-confidence. And although we may not always be able to afford what this noble person wears, there is still something to learn from her.

  59. In the style of a “real lady” it is impossible to overdo anything.

Ever since Meghan Markle became the official fiancée and now the wife of Prince Harry, everyone around has been doing nothing but comparing her to Kate. Moreover, not with Kate Middleton, as she was in the first year of marriage, but with the Duchess of Cambridge, into whom she transformed over 7 long years of life within the royal family. And, of course, first of all, their styles and their relevance are compared.

Those who like to compare constantly omit the fact that Kate is English and entered the Windsor family very smoothly; it took her 9 years to wait for an offer from Prince William. And since then she has been living and communicating with royal family, knows all the preferences, unspoken rules and unwritten “protocols” (to which royal observers so often appeal). While Meghan Markle found herself in a completely unfamiliar world of the British aristocracy, which is called “from the start.” And she is sorely lacking in knowledge and experience. But she's trying really hard.

At social events, the royal ladies in their inner circle almost always look like they or their stylists are chatting together on WhatsUp and coordinating outfits, agreeing on everything in advance. In the specialized community ru-royalty.livejournal.com there was even a joke that Megan had not yet been included in the general chat, so she dressed up out of place. In fact, over the years of living at the Court, one develops a sense of how exactly one should dress, depending on the composition of the participants and the theme of the event.

Women in the royal family were able to coordinate the style of their clothing even in the era before the total Internet. Pictured: Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, the Queen Mother (center), Princess Anne, Princes Charles and Edward at the Queen Mother's residence on her 90th birthday, 1990

At the same time, many have forgotten how Kate missed the mark with clothes in the first years of her marriage. While criticizing Meghan for being too “dark” attire at Prince Louis’s christening, it would be good to remember Kate’s epic blunder at the celebration of the anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II. The Duchess of Cambridge then dressed in red, and it was not very clear whether she intended to outshine all the ladies present, including the hero of the occasion, or whether she was trying to imitate the fittings of the royal boot on which the event took place (all its upholstery, chairs, carpets and even flowers and the standards were exactly the same color).

That same red dress, the color of which for a moment unbalanced even the imperturbable Queen (and the photographer managed to catch this facial expression in the frame)

... almost merged with the deck, flowers, flags, but contrasted brightly with all the ladies

Against this background, a black Dior outfit at the RAF commemoration or mustard Givenchy at a christening little prince- just innocent flaws, because Megan was just trying to not be the most noticeable. I just understood it in my own way, due to my, for the most part, Hollywood experience. And only time and the goodwill of the other family members will help her cope with these nuances (which, to their credit, they demonstrate in full, unlike the press and social networks).

Why is it remarkable? paired output two duchesses on the 12th day of Wimbledon? Because these two women were authentic. They did not try to “coordinate” outfits to suit public tastes, nor did they try to imitate each other. On the contrary, each showed her individual style and her fashion preferences.

Kate is a supporter of the lady-like style, as feminine as possible, without a hint of androgyny. Polka dots have been her favorite print for many years (a year ago, by the way, she also wore a white dress with large black polka dots from Dolce&Gabbana at Wimbledon). Only the frills on the dress indicate that Kate remembers trends and follows them, but only to the extent that they fit into her ideas of beauty.

Meghan absolutely correctly chose trousers and a loose blouse. She declared her love for such a fashionable combination while still in the status of the prince’s bride. This was especially loud at the Endeavor charity fund evening, where Meghan arrived in a black Alexander McQueen trouser suit. At first, it seemed that when she got married, she tried to fit in with the rest of the ladies of the royal family, who, as a rule, do not wear trousers at official events (the exception is Countess Sophie of Wessex, whom Meghan was more than once advised to follow). But now, almost 2 months after the wedding, Megan returns to the style of clothing that is clear to her, comfortable and, let’s be honest, suits her much better.

You can play “my fair lady” as much as you want, put on hats and fit into sheath dresses, but Megan has a specific figure and as long as she is on the same wavelength with her body, as long as she puts on what she is comfortable in, her images are beautiful. This is exactly what the Duchess of Sussex was in the royal box at the Wimbledon tournament last Saturday. Slacks high waisted, loose a la men's shirt with trendy vertical stripes - both from the Ralph Lauren Collection fit Megan amazingly, emphasizing her fragility, her grace, her modern sense of style, and her feminist views at the same time.

By each wearing something that best suited her inner self, both duchesses showed everyone that they were so different that it was completely pointless to compare them with each other.

And if one suspects that such a contrast was a deliberate “action,” it would most likely be on Megan’s part. After all, for Kate, Megan’s style is still a mystery. And to understand what the Duchess of Cambridge might wear to the tournament, just look at photographs from past years. By the way, it’s worth remembering that Megan wore her first elegant Alexander McQueen trouser suit exactly the evening when pregnant Kate stepped out in ball gown at the royal reception in Oslo. Coincidence? What if not? In this case, I would like to wish Megan that she will continue to “contrast” with Kate. Duchess style Duchess of Cambridge Doesn't suit Sussex at all. As well as vice versa. And opposites, as they say, attract. They simply have nothing to share. They're both wonderful.
